Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
The difference you can obviously think is conservative. But what does conservative means? It also means that they are more opened to new ideas and the problem with Asian thinking is it’s way too conservative. That there’s a certain system or rule to follow; which might not be real That you can date as many as you like…
If I could just tune out these distractions, I'll be fine, I told myself. It wasn't just the gadgets. It was the people in my life. The constant, oppressive need to make money. Deleting apps on my phone and turning off notifications was the easiest step. Eventually, I ended up quitting my job. I told myself I needed a…
Hello. I have missed the last 2 days of blogging. Sorry. I have been having immense anxiety for the past 2 days. And I think I am in a state where nobody and nothing seems to be helping. The biggest reason for this is because my sense of self worth is tied to my sense of productivity. And I feel like I am productive…
never have i actually made an elevator speech. in my past life as an insurance sales exec, we learned the art of the elevator speech--a succinct product pitch short enough to share with a stranger in an elevator. i want to believe i've honed the art of brevity in anything; i am, after all, writer of flash and micro.…
I'm not saying I have OCD and ADHD, but it takes me an hour to walk from my bedroom to my kitchen.
"Act the way you'd like to be and soon you'll be the way you act." -Leonard Cohen I can’t agree more. Journaling small gratitude brought more gratitude into my life. Writing about the small steps and wins brought more positives. Small gratitudes and positives became easier to identify. My journaling both became a…
This morning I read a timely article by one of my favorite writers and thinkers, Derek Thompson (@DKThomp on Twitter). It was titled, "Your Career Is Just One-Eighth of Your Life" and it got me thinking (as his writing and podcasts usually do). I spend a lot... A LOT... of time thinking about this one-eighth of my…
Writing doesn't come naturally to me. Questions like- what's the use case of writing?, there's too much content already floating around!, how will others perceive what I write? etc. etc. have been pulling me back since a very long time now. FRICTION at work, you see. I've greased my thought process with some oil…
Eloise was always a fan of the outlet malls. She'd often come home from a day out with bags of clothes and a giant grin on her face. She'd lay them out on her bed, pointing to each price tag while her husband, Ed, would nod along. "This was 60% off, Ed," she'd say. "Look at this one, Ed, it retails for $400! I got it…
Ruthlessly manage your time, mind, and energy. Protect your energy for you goals and ambitions. It's okay to starve your distractions and to feed your focus.
You are a coward. You know it. You have to grow out of it. You celebrate the downfall of others, then you celebrate your victory. It is your mistake. You have to grow out of it. You can never win like this. You want to be kind, but you cannot. You are mean. You liked her. You want to be with her, you want to win. But…
I don't know if it'll make sense to you, but the feature of blocking people is just a blessing. I personally would endorse this feature and recommend it to everyone to keep their sanity at bay. Certain people can't disappear from your life at your will, but blocking them from your socials and contacts is SO CALMING.…
i love patti smith's writing but i've never really like, gotten into the musician side of her and because "just kids" focuses so much on that, i got curious and so i'm watching a 1977 interview+concert of her and i'm shocked that she (1) has a new york accent (2) sounds so damn confident and opinionated in person…
The internet has given rise to a new genre of humorous content and I personally love it! The ones I find particularly amusing are around wine and comparing it to life. ''Yoga Class? I thought you said Pour a Glass''. You get the drift. When did wine become such an ubiquitous part of corporate lore? I for one of course…
I've always been a bit on the fence about journaling, but I've just come across a very good argument for it - clearing the human cache. It is true that we get bogged down in thoughts, I know I do anyway, and it leads to pages of messy scribbles as I write out hour-by-hour plans for the days ahead on the same page as…
plane tickets and a dusty suitcase stacked away in lofts, in your search you only found the one thing that was never lost and yet you yearn for parts of you you cannot reclaim because your broadened horizon means you’re not the same and yourself is the only one to blame.
It's very popular out there the notion of building a habit by taking the activity in question on practice it every day for a certain number of days. It's embedded in many popular apps like Duolingo or Strava. I think it got popularized by the habit building experts out there and also due to the Seinfeld strategy. You…
Sim, estou internada.
Watching the debate on whether we ought not to trust mainstream media between Matt Taibbi and Douglas Murray for the motion, and Michelle Goldberg and Malcolm Gladwell against, I was struck by the ineptitude of the arguments put forth by the team against, particularly by Gladwell. On multiple occasions he insinuated…
If you want to be 健谈; you just gotta try to use your brain Before meeting — think what’s going to talk about; put effort and interest into it & technically just don’t be lazy. For example if you’re going to a badminton session. Everyone should be interested in badminton. You can search from rackets, shoes, badminton…
The graver division in society is not between those who support one side of an ideological position, but between levels of devotion and objectivity to the ideological position. Between LOYALISTS and LEANERS. The loyalists find no wrong in their positions, and those who subscribe to them. If there's any fact, any line…
It was a productive Monday. My apple pencil came and so did the cat food. Went to h-mart to get stuff and ate more leftover curry. Started thinking of ways to improve my workflow on the new iPad. Had a recording itch and tried using garageband. Sleeping late.
During intense work phases, I often find myself deprioritizing social interactions to maintain focus and minimize distractions. While solitude often boosts my productivity and I enjoy my own company, I also realize how much I like to engage with open and inspiring people - they energize me. The last two days, I hosted…
Person number 1 vs person number 2 Relationships - people text, fuck, catch feelings and suddenly understand that: you have choices in your life - person 1 heartbroken - person 2 Now can’t admit I’m person 2 Always being telic Trying to “get some goals” “achieve something in your life” “being in that relationship by…
my eyes hurt from reading all night, my mind having grown imperceptibly rich, lacking focus. i think so little about my own life now, because of how much i involve myself in other people's business/thoughts TO BE HONEST. i think 76% of the rationale for reading is "I need to read if I want to write" and why do i want…
From Write of Passage, Peek-a-Boo and Pocket Pool - https://www.shirleyfrivera.com/blog/peek-a-boo-and-pocket-pool - the following are edited excerpts "... where what you saw was not quite the complete reality of what it was." COFFEE BREAK ... awarded an unprecedented salary increase. Cornered by a Principal in a…
it costs as much to buy Holzfällen from Amazon.it as it does to buy it from Orellfuessli but whereas Amazon will deliver it this weekend, S has to fly to Switzerland first to then bring me back the book but since we already have an Orellfuessli giftcard...but I also don't want his mom looking at the book thinking…
I wrote this in February, thanks to Nicheless it’s seeing the light of the day. With Covid, we adapted from buying from stores to buying almost everything online and getting it home delivered. This was ok (not saying great). We ordered stuff and it reached in 1/2/3 days. Local kirana wala, a phone call away also got…
“I’m through with this fuckin war, through with marchin in the dust, through with gettin shot at. I’m done, I’m goin’ home,” spouted Jenkins as he got up from the fire. “Quit bein’ a pussy, ain’t one of us here that don’t wanna be home” countered Carlton. “I ain't no pussy.” “Sure acting like one.” “Evenin’ boys”…
i've been thinking endlessly about sex lately either my biological clock is ticking and i'm ovulating and the body is desperate or it's because of the things i've been writing, creatively or i'm writing those things because the clock is ticking i'm writing the story i can't get out of my head the more i write it the…
Does anyone else sees the irony with influencers? They are supposed to drive a positive change among their followers and yet we see most of them end up getting influenced by their followers. I don't think most of influencers can truly express themselves on social media. There is always that possibility of backlash…
I scored 11 out of 11 here. This has been, I suppose, the greatest source of psychic pain. It’s hard to cope, when you’re constantly reminded that the way your mind works is a mess. There are benefits to this psychic disorganization, it just takes some time and understanding to accept the benefits. I’ve accused myself…
I am a shelf builder who displays my creativity, in my areas of practice, on my shelves. Recently, friend, Marlon, shared about the three domains in creativity - corporeal, hermeneutic, analytical - where Christian Julmi unpacks Hermann Schmitz's phenomenological approach. In the same conversation, Marlon and I…
Used to feeling all sorts of weak emotions Feeling anxious when going out Feeling uncomfortable when meeting new people Feeling not wanting to go out Not able to wake up fully and stay on bed Not able to get over my ex or feeling sorry for myself for not doing the best It’s because I was weak And now I’m stronger…
Most of us work towards building a life you don't need to escape from. A free life. "F(ree) You". There are few moments in life where your perspective to life alters completely. One such event was when my investments started to cover my monthly expenses and beyond. I managed to reach this point owing to many reasons,…
It's getting easier and easier to produce mediocre information. Anyone can remix anyone's ideas and churn out garbage at a disturbing rate. The only question on peoples minds anymore is 'why should I care'? The price of entry is genuine human experience. You need a story about an actual, real-world experience that…
To be not listening to breakup songs Put yourself into position that will not let you feel deep into your own sorrow That’s pretty stupid Think of everyone else - why do Elon Musk and some successful people can achieve so much Because they do not fell into the bug feeling melancholic emotions There’s so much other…
There are many blogs and podcasts on failure. They're by people who are successful. There are many stories of miraculous pregnancies having carried through. Women share these experiences after having gone through each long day and week of their pregnancy and share these stories in hindsight. Not many people write…
Who are we? What defines us? Who are you looking at when you look in the mirror every day? "To be or not to be" is a quote by Shakespeare that has been reused for decades. Let's talk about "Not to be". We are complex creatures with a nuanced way of social and personal interactions. All these interactions define us.…
Why do you always “huh” and assume what people say. Don’t do that Focus on what people say to the 100% and - actually ask & listen very very carefully. Even if you’re doing anything or not doing anything. Don’t become lifeless and mindless zombie Just have own thought and critical thinking - think clearly before…
Eventually, it's a world of one. I don't mean this in a nihilistic, pessimistic, or even a narcissistic way. I just mean that eventually, it's a world of one. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it does give me the occasional existential crisis. Now that I'm starting a venture of my own, I'm more empathetic…
I used to be a born fan of top-down approach. I never could wrap my head around small things if I couldn't figure about the existence and why of things. And that's okay while you're learning but innovation can't be done this way you need to solve a lot of small puzzles to figure out how to solve the larger one or even…
One of the most startling aspects of becoming a father is how that experience somehow heightens every emotion in life. The highs are much higher than pre-fatherhood, while lows are more difficult to accept. In some ways, there is plenty to learn when you become a new father. First, that 'newness' never leaves.…
After already having several goodbye parties in Chile from friends and family that think I'm not coming back, today I say goodbye to the end of my gap semester to return to Chile. It's also a goodbye to my long distance relationship partner once again (for like the 7th time) by now I should be a pro at this. But,…
the idea of inbox zero is enough to make my head spin. to be honest, I've felt this way for a while, but being available has always felt like one of my biggest strengths, so I've tried to put my head down and persevere. the problem is the demand never stops. and the more you take on, the less boundaries you set, the…
