Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
Have you ever experienced falling in love AGAIN, Feeling the Effect of an entheogenic substance AGAIN, Being on an Adventure AGAIN? And your reaction was: "Oh MY, I totally forgot how good this feels!" How many times in our lives we underestimate how good it will feel... to feel How many times in our lives we…
I have always felt a lingering conflict about why people who take care of themselves get deadly diseases. Isn't it better to not care about our health, if anyway we're gonna get those XYZ diseases? Why unnecessarily cut down on sugar? Why count calories for every meal intake? Take an example: Person X is a fitness…
Today I am thinking of Alex the parrot again. The first and only known non-human to ask an existential question. His last words to his caretaker: "You be good, I love you. See you tomorrow". I wonder how much animals can really know. Octopi come to mind when I think of consciousness. They are very smart -- smarter…
Often, when we do things we overlook things and don't see the blind spots. In retrospect they look stupid and trivial to point that you get harsh on yourself. You often say things to yourself like "how can you be so dumb?" and "i should have been careful and not so naive". You start questioning your ability and it…
My son eyes aren't teaming properly. They create blurry images. To compensate his brain shuts off his weak eye and overloads his dominant eye. This knock-on effects are reading fatigue, inability to stay focused, etc. We may have scratched this up to ADHD and sought medication. Thankfully, my wife kept pulling the…
Como fui parar no norte do Peru? Para minha alegria ou não, estou aqui. Confesso que tive dias bem difíceis. Dias de solidão, e não de solitude. Questionei minha própria decisão várias vezes. Mas não vivo eu só de agora. Estou construindo a vida a longo prazo. Estou construindo a minha liberdade geográfica, emocional…
Yes, I have a sweet tooth. I love me some sweets: pastries, candy, cakes, cookies… you name it, I love it. But there has been no better sweetener in life than community. Combining community with all aspects of my life has provided that extra 🤌 But how? I’m currently learning how to DJ right now, and sure, learning…
The startup journey is full of hidden traps that can destroy even the most promising companies. I've seen too many talented founders fall into these psychological pitfalls that silently kill startups from within. This happened with myself during a certain phase and thankfully a coach held the mirror. These aren't the…
That is life these days. The moles keep popping up. I’m knocking them down but not at the pace that feels sustainable to keep them at bay. So, time to figure out how to kill the moles before they’re out of control.
Let me first explain describe the situation - I have plans and things I want to do, they are not that hard to do but for some reason, I just cannot take the first step. Laziness, procrastination, being too comfortable, lack of desire of doing the thing that I thought I wanted, burnout, lack of discipline - the actual…
So long I worked and toiled and begged. To make a small dream come true. Everything came undone, with a nod, a slip and slow announcement. I don't want to dream anymore. It hurts so much to feel so worthless. So incompetent and dumb and silent. So foolish and stuck and silent. I dont want to dream anymore. And have no…
i may sound like a soulless creature here, but i did use to have a soul i promise - it was a garden with fragrant flowers, honeydew, some butterflies and all shades of colours. i don't know when i became a parched desert but if i am this today then i am also what i was. i am just scared, i think, of the colossal…
Doomscrolling is a lot like venture capital. You spend countless hours on it, most return nothing. But once in a while, a single post returns the entire fund. Last night, I hit one of those rare jackpots. It was a painfully obvious observation made by a writer I had never heard of. Three dots, sitting in plain sight…
Digital productivity apps - shiny object buffet of apps with low to high caloric brain-nourishment value One's lived experiences deserves to be housed where the moments will be organized, tended, and loved Home sweet home, especially your digital home. My love letter to friends who ask if they should switch apps.…
There is a lie embedded in the 'architecture of guilt', a lie so elegant it disguises itself as virtue. It says: you must earn your way back. That before you may begin again, you must first account for the wreckage, perform contrition, and prove that you are sorry. Only then, once the debt is settled, once the penance…
Recentemente a minha vida mudou.
Never hearing that you are loved, but having the fridge full of food —the Asian way. Never receiving an apology when they are wrong, but instead being asked if you are hungry or want some fruit —the Asian way. Being pushed to follow their dream life instead of yours, but receiving financial support —the Asian way.…
and who teach me how to love things i met a girl who loves to cook and garden and by hanging out with her, or maybe by cooking with her, i grew to LOVE cooking and just hearing her talk about gardening made me love gardening more i had a friend in hs who was an Arts & Culture Self-Guided Exploration Master and she…
ahh- no warning, just locked instantly for a set time. no way to dispute until the timer runs out. very frustrating...
Recipe: lots of awareness and curiosity on how your backside contributes to your movement, a bit of tension in your lower abs, lots of micro exercises to train your mind, and a couple medium-hard workouts. Took 2-3 weeks, not much time every day. Result: My body feels more alive, my back hurts less. This morning it…
Why is it that you see most of the philosophers talking about high performance rarely act upon them and are high performers? Philosophers tend to romanticise life in their heads and yet dont see the beauty of the world they live in. Here, is something to note that I have read some of the works of alan watts, Jiddu…
I'm a big fan of Yes Theory and their open, serendipitous approach to life. And I try to take them as an example, to seek more discomfort myself, to say yes, to approach strangers, and to face new situations openly and curiously. That's easier said than done, and it's still not easy for me. Too often, my comfort zone…
Excerpt from the 2015 Ursula K. Le Guin Vogue interview. Interviewer: Abby Aguirre ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ In response to Le Guin‘s 2014 national book award remarks; ‚We’ll need writers who can remember freedom. [...] We need writers who know the difference between production of a market commodity and the practice of an art,‘…
Is almost the end of the year and FOR SOME UNGODLY reason I was assigned 4 different projects, 1 art, 1 science and 2 history. the history ones I got to do alone but a wasn't as lucky with the other two. The science one SUCKEDDDD so bad. im failing I already know it. Arts easy but still, Why so many projects????
For the past two weeks, I've been binging this podcast called Dissect, where the host analyzes Ye's MBDTF, one of Kanye's most acclaimed album that he's ever produced/created as well as listening to the album and I've been mad inspired. It's just crazy how much detail he put into the album and I've been wondering...…
Mindset makes or breaks your success in life’s endeavors. Journaling is a tool that changes your mindset. I didn’t journal very long before this became evident to me. I didn’t even know I needed a mindset change. I changed because of my journaling. Let's look at two examples of how journaling changes your mindset.…
Jack in Titanic Doesn’t care how rich Rose is Every phase of Jack’s life there is a best version to live the life There’s no point worrying and feeling self abasement for yourself Work towards it & there’s a way to live out of poverty Feeling bad is just the easy way It doesn’t mean you stop being someone caring…
coming from the fertile goddess that is indonesia -- where you spit on the ground and your saliva grows into a giant beanstalk -- back to the arid desert that is italy, i'm thinking: why are we deforesting biodiverse gems of the earth? why don't we farm more seriously in barren places like most of the "1st world"?…
I can't begin to count the number of new beginnings I have declared. Maybe it's my perfectionist streak in me that demands this. Maybe I should fix this, maybe not. But I do hope to make this one count. There are a few things, I aim to implement in my life. Firstly, thinking about mine and others' failures. I'm going…
The only constant I have observed in my 21 years of existence is this — no matter how well I sleep at night, it just won't be as good as that nap in the afternoon. I'm a Bengali. And what science suggests is that since Bengalis have a carbohydrate-heavy diet, food that takes long to digest, they're naturally more…
Today I officially logged out of Facebook. I do not have the app on my phone and just use Chrome to doom scroll. Today, I just had enough. I catch myself doing it all the time. Its like I naturally gravitate to it, my thumb's natural navigation. Even if I fill that time spent elsewhere on social media, at least it…
never have i actually made an elevator speech. in my past life as an insurance sales exec, we learned the art of the elevator speech--a succinct product pitch short enough to share with a stranger in an elevator. i want to believe i've honed the art of brevity in anything; i am, after all, writer of flash and micro.…
i am thinking of writing fan letters to my favorite authors. what do you think? i'm thinking of specifically: - megan boyle - i would like to say: i love your sense of humor, i love that you expanded my beliefs about what a "book" is and opened my tiny tiny mind up to the world of possibilities - jordan castro - a…
This will likely happen many times over. I'm not necessarily building towards something, which makes this pseudo-habit hard to complete. Which brings up an interesting thought for me: am I conditioned to do things if and only if it leads or builds towards something? I definitely have this mindset these days. While not…
The mundane daily motions of life often happen without much thought to the big picture of life. The thought lurks in the background, but is generally entangled and lost in the mental haze of daily grind. Important takes the back seat, to cede to urgent. Whatever remains of the time when you aren't working and aren't…
1/n My first Nicheless post. You know ... experimenting. One thing that I do not quite yet get is the word count of 300. The site very clearly reads; No fluff. Just 300 words. Each post has one (optional) image. Followed by a maximum of 300 words. Long enough as to allow for nuance. Short enough as to not bore your…
AHHH... seeing a similar quote by more than one creator who i admire is like an epiphany. there is hidden meaning within their words that many do not see. "create because it needs to exist" everything else will be erased...
Hi, I’ve received my blissclub offer. Congratulations to me. Unfortunately, it has only served to make me ridiculously anxious and nervous about the decision. However, I have realised. You will always start out being bad at something. And then as you put more time, you’ll get better at it. You might even begin…
The first question, without fail, in our capitalist society: what do you do? I meet you for the first time. You always lead with ‘what do you do’? Went to a blogging meetup full of strangers recently. I could tell immediately from the energy and the question re: my work that several people were not from the Pacific…
Why are we so willing to change things like our cars or kitchens, yet so reluctant to change our deeply held beliefs or opinions?
being the nice guy is not going to get you anything. you think you are doing people good but no you are just killing yourself bit by bit. people will go on doing what they want to do. hurt you. worse, not even care about you. people are just trauma. you got to be an asshole to get what you want. put your own needs…
.. or public writings for myself? Who knows what this will evolve into, but it seems at first glance to be a natural step forward from using The Most Dangerous Writing App to get my thoughts out on paper, back when I was a teenager. Personally I have always felt the struggle of wanting to be in a community, to share…
If you're here on Nicheless and also are trying to figure out how to navigate Mastodon, and are finding it not at all a friction-free process, like me... Help. How does a new user find the smart people in journalism, tech, entertainment, humor -- and, oh yeah, steer clear of the anime pornbot trolls, which I thought…
I'm here to kickstart my digital writing habit. Here's my grand idea: write 30 atomic essays in 30 days. (Of course, the idea is stolen from @dickiebush) But it is not about the idea. It is about building a system. A system is a collection of parts that work together to produce an output when fed with an input. This…
