Community: life’s ultimate sweetener
Yes, I have a sweet tooth. I love me some sweets: pastries, candy, cakes, cookies… you name it, I love it.
But there has been no better sweetener in life than community.
Combining community with all aspects of my life has provided that extra 🤌
But how?
I’m currently learning how to DJ right now, and sure, learning one-on-one with a teacher would’ve been valuable. But, learning with a cohort of 7 other people, while being a part of the greater Beat Junkie community is even more valuable.
I’m working on my writing right now, and sure paying a coach or learning on my own online would be powerful. But, learning and getting feedback from the Foster Writing community is way more powerful.
I’m close to a year into my career pivot from sales into community building, and sure, I could’ve tried making this pivot on my own in various ways. But, joining a cohort-based certification program and communities like Community Club and Rosieland (where community builders are learning together), has enriched my life.
I moved to LA a little over a year ago, and sure, I could’ve moved into a studio and enjoyed a ton of space. But, moving into a co-living community allowed me to tap into a thriving community right when I touched down, and I doubt I could’ve made a better living decision.
Being a part of these communities has helped me find my people. People who share similar values and visions for the world. People driven by connection.
That’s why community sweetens our lives so much. It allows us to be ourselves while being us. To live authentically within our own experience but knowing our experiences are intertwined.
A parting question for you: How are you using community to sweeten your life?
