Breaking the Invisible Wall
Let me first explain describe the situation - I have plans and things I want to do, they are not that hard to do but for some reason, I just cannot take the first step. Laziness, procrastination, being too comfortable, lack of desire of doing the thing that I thought I wanted, burnout, lack of discipline - the actual reason is probably a cocktail of the all of above.
Initially, when I had a new idea, I would simply push it to a later date. But over the months and years, it's created what I can best describe as an invisible wall, that creates this demotivating feeling when I need to do something new, because deep down I know it's not going to happen. In a way, the dream is killed as soon as it was born because there exists this wall.
It's not a great feeling and is demotivating. If I turn back the pages in my journal, I can see this persist over the years. Lots of words about plans and ideas, but very little action that followed. Ideas have stayed ideas for months.
I'm now working on breaking down this invisible wall. Habits are one tool along with focusing on doing just a few things. It also takes patience, something I've realised I'm not very good at.
Recently, I had a medical condition and one big takeaway from that experience was life can end all of a sudden. You can never know what's around the corner and so if there's something you want to do, get on with it. Tomorrow might never come.
