Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
Thanks to the generous human beings like Tarra sharing their own knowledge-making and knowledge management journeys in LYT. I continue to extract my thoughts about Legacy PKM. Because of sharing in the LYT community, thoughts that have been evolving for more than two years are being further sparked. Ryuichi Sakamoto I…
the writing (that i'm reading, that i wrote, that i'm editing) is getting better. it is less sour. oh thank god this is salvageable. also i seem to encounter norwegians who make me think "you are so cool bc we are so similar" but i am not even remotely scandinavian and i think it has a lot to do with how they like to…
After watching the live feed for hours, I managed to find this post which seems to be a direct response to the previous one: === anon0330 I’m not a guy who writes long posts. But I have to respond to the holier-than-you post circulating the other day. People who condemn los Raznos seem to conveniently ignore how the…
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh today i had an idea fade away as i tried to remember. distractions were the reason. the idea may come back and when it does, that moment is when to document it. this blog post is an attempt at reminding me of the idea. so far unsuccessfully...
When a technologist designs a solution for a specific community, particularly one they live in, unintended consequences are more manageable. But when that same solution is massively scaled, we have to carefully consider three concepts: 1. The technologies we create reflect what we value, but they don’t necessarily…
attempts to break outside of a creative block i have revisited some content from mentors who i admire. it is their quotes that resonate with me. the one sticking out now is; "It’s easier to be a critic than to produce work. So the only way to get to the end means is to start the domino effect. Which is essentially put…
Take a new leap of faith Read the book Go to events Go to sports meet new people Travel the world for half a year Talk to people you wanted to talk to Listen to podcast Ask for a raise Don’t escape from the hard things in life by short term dopamines (insta, fb, YouTube, dinner, sleep, etc…) Put your mind in it Put an…
Walks might be considered inefficient, but for me, they are worth every minute. I enjoy walks—they slow me down and allows me to take things at my own pace. During these moments, I like to take time to reflect on my day, either planning ahead or recapping how things went. It’s also an opportunity to reflect on other…
I think a lot about gratitude. Writing daily gratitude is a habit that changed my life. So it follows that I write about writing gratitude. Sharing your gratitude is a way to promote a positive outlook on life. I’m not talking about saying, “Thank you.” That’s a polite behavior we are taught in childhood. You need to…
i once had a piano student who had glenn gould energy a little baby of 7 or 10 years old and he told me he only plays the piano to impress girls i thought so young...and he already knows what life is about.
A couple of days ago, I was really struggling to come up with ideas for that day's writing challenge. Feeling stuck, I was riding an electric scooter through the nighttime streets to get home. With the rush of wind and the feeling of moving forward, ideas started flowing. I came up with concepts for six different…
I haven't written anything anywhere in a long time, my articulation of sentences is poor, use of punction is very poor, I don't know how to write. want to get better but i dont know how.
as for the history of black amerikka, they are & have been in plain sight. over the last 500 years, we just did not have on the correct lenses to see the whips & chains evolving. the programming that took place over 500 years ago during the creating of amerikka worked so well that we don't even know what went on with…
The lucky ones among us get a chance to grow up with our families which in most likelihood have a parental figure or two to provide for our education, medical care and learning. The lucky ones, someone calls us the lucky ones and we don't believe it. How can we be the lucky ones? Everything is laid down for us - which…
I completed a 2-day "ultra-marathon-type" race this weekend where you run 48 miles over the course of 48 hours. It was grueling and I enjoyed the challenge. I have run a regular marathon and done other various physical challenges, always trying to maintain some novelty and keep myself interested. In the final hours of…
Some people move through life like furniture, always there, but never holding weight. Their presence hums with borrowed purpose. They exist best in reflected light, speaking loud in rooms that forgive forgetfulness. You start to notice the soft betrayals: the delayed reply dressed as distraction, the listening that…
There are two categories of approaches for apprehending the world: rational and empirical. Rationalists have a cognitive bias towards thinking in terms of models, systems, and logical consequences. As a result, they tend to develop models of reality based on a limited set of direct sense data and then try to impose…
I. Best-case scenario Donald Trump is elected president in November. An Iranian proxy, whether Houthi, Hezbollah, or Iraqi Shi'ite militia, attacks an American naval vessel in the Persian Gulf. Trump orders a brutal retaliation that decimates the Iranian oil industry in Bandar Abbas. Iran, humiliated, pulls back its…
I remember I started writing blog posts about 13 years ago, during my gap year when I was preparing for my university entrance exam, kind of like the SAT. But when one of my college friends found my blog, I suddenly felt so embarrassed that someone I knew had read it. I ended up deleting the whole thing. At the time I…
Do you dream of being a daily journaler? You may have the first two steps mastered, leaving just one more action to make your dream come true. Five years ago, I took on a job that required me to up my task management. I turned to Bullet Journaling. Each morning, I listed tasks to be completed. It worked like a charm.…
As writers, we long to express (our) thoughts and be heard. In today's climate, we castrate authenticity from artists willing to push (against) the global consensus. Luckily, those daring enough, regardless of the consequences — barge through any boundaries that are societally placed within (our) psyches. I adore the…
- Not a second brain - Not a full-blown PK - Not even a draft space for articles It's a place for mindful consumption, storage and meaning making. The system is inspired by Justin Mikolay's note-taking system, that he considers as a key part to his creative process 3 steps: 1. Reading 2. Thinking (aka note-taking) 3.…
Recently, I have been applying my method for learning Chinese characters to my university studies (well to my final degree exam). It's funny that I'm only starting to use it now that I've finished all my courses, but it's never too late to implement this technique in other subjects. I always thought that with my…
You imagine some futuristic tall pointy structures that go into the clouds, like the Sky Tower in the movie Oblivion [0] But I realised recently that many of us, including myself, are already living in the sky. Over the past few years, I lived in a house on the 33rd floor and worked in an office on the 5th. I spend…
Well, one spends a mind boggling amount of time on the internet. But what makes it worthy are a few worthwhile discoveries, like this place. Quite good to just pen down stuff without any baggage. Recently when I started writing poems which were just what I was observing, feeling and experiencing at the time and…
For the longest time, infinity seemed like a magical and rather useless concept. If anything, it was some object that was larger than everything else. It was a way to win arguments as a kid. If you ever found yourself in a shouting match, all you needed to do was state your position once more followed by the magic…
I love doing team sports, there is this feeling of belonging and collaboration that is just in a way refreshing. Going to the gym is nice sometimes, cause you learn discipline and resistance, but having people that are accountable pushes me to be better and go further from my limit. Both have its own benefits, but…
I like to set some life goals for me, my husband, our little family. I set long term goals; I set short term goals. Very short ones, even. Like, what is our checklist on a random Saturday? Our goals last Saturday were doing laundry, taking Alia on a swim, and enjoying some hotpot for dinner. And we were right on…
This is my first post on nicheless. It seems like an interesting microblogging app. I like how minimalist the interface is. I even like this font. The onboarding process was easy. Getting the web page as an app icon on my iPhone screen was seamless. 300 words is a lot. That last word was my 50th. I wonder how this…
The airport, a place where people from all over the world meet, sitting here and looking at the people passing through just makes you wonder what kinds of lifestyles do this people have, their story. Is kinda fun to try to guess and make up stories about it. There are so many possibilities in life, so many different…
Lately, everything seems a bit blurry. Too many thoughts. Too many feelings. A mix of the two and it's a mess. I'd wish to not feel, but being on a perpetual high, due to the pill-popping, makes me feel emptier than usual. The emptiness engulfs me, leaving me completely bare and broken. I've been feeling like this for…
Today I had a goodbye dinner with my parents at a nice restaurant, before leaving for San Francisco tomorrow. It was the same restaurant where we have been for a goodbye dinner nearly exactly two years ago, before I left for my exchange semester to Taiwan. It felt melancholic to have a similar moment again. And it…
Siebren de Vos published this thought-provoking post: https://nicheless.blog/post/the-beauty-of-nothingness And it gave me some food for thought. I replied to him: "I think the human mind does better with minimalism and simplicity and order... however, nature abhors a vacuum. Generally, humans consider "the…
Being a second-year law student, it is my personal goal that I need to develop my legal writing. This exercise will not only help me perform better in law school (I hope), but also give me an idea of what my strengths and interests are, thus giving me an insight into which path to choose after completing law school. I…
This was a facebook update on my childhood friend's father's passing. We are not actively in touch (only facebook), I saw the update, through the testimonial message he posted for his father. I had the urge to check how old uncle was and see his recent photos, perhaps to give me a sense of what it means to live close…
I don't have a plan for this blog. However, every time I considered writing a new post, I procrastinated. I watched TBBT for the nth time. I started reading a new book. I binged that new song album I haven't gotten around to. I began entertaining my pets. The mix of things I do to put writing away is endless. So my…
In 2020, I had this grand plan and it was unorthodox, but effective. I traded in my Android smart phone for a feature phone. I stopped reading the news religiously. I started to write more. And by hand. I would take notes on pen and paper writing in cursive to maximize my recall and memory. It all worked. I started…
You don’t have to make the “perfect environment” You can make yourself an own garden by changing yourself You don’t have to be “clean” and tidy only at home not at work - you can do it at work too Only people who are good at their day job Could be good at their side hustles too I believe Strive to be good and better…
Do not have a backup plan Try things more radical Drop out or do something that is more extreme You’ll perform better Just trust your ability of your brain You’ll be surprised where that would take you And I think you found it by being an archi coordinator in K You did achieve amazing things by trusting yourself Don’t…
We waste too much time waiting. We wait for the clock to strike the perfect 9 AM, 10 AM, 2.30 PM, or 11 PM to resume work after a break. We'll scroll through a few more reels if there are 3 minutes to 5.30 PM. I used to do that while studying. I would arbitrarily take a break and then resume at half past something.…
Writing is a two prong thing for me. First, the process of thinking and writing itself is enjoyable and vaguely satisfying. Secondly, well crafted words can command enormous influence. Every good story, instruction or code starts with a written word. But what's also true is that writing regularly is hard work. It's…
I think that´s the feedback I've gathered over the last 4 months or so. It's been mostly this year that I've been completely independent, working on my own, that I've seen it. I've had some hits in the past. Some of like people around call "the 15 mins of fame". And had some peaks in certain occasions. But nothing…
my writing process is... weird. this week, i knew i had to write a pretty important proposal for station, so i told myself that i would start early. but monday passed... tuesday passed... wednesday passed and there i was on thursday night taking my shower getting ready to go to bed telling myself that i'd wake up…
Have you ever scrolled through your past writings or posts online and had a feeling of cringe. That can't be me, What a stupid I was ! I am sure you have, at some point. In part, this is explained by a phenomenon called Denning - Kruger effect. The less you know about something, the more likely you are to not know…
Today was a day when i was having starting trouble The only thing that really got me kicked up and ready to go was when i got a call from an external entity. What do i learn from this? 1. I do not like moving when I do not know have any plan in place about how to achieve what I want to achieve 2. I am almost always…
They say that not a single person on the planet can make something as simple as a pencil. The creation of a pencil - from the lead to the wood - is the culmination of a grand orchestra of people working together. Very few of them were were actively trying to make a pencil, but it's the collective effort that…
No matter how good their life becomes, some people will find things to complain about. It doesn't matter where you put them. What you change about their life. They will crib. They will find things going wrong in their lives and rant about it. The problem is not their situation. It is not the people around them. They…
