figuring life (or atleast writing) out
Being a second-year law student, it is my personal goal that I need to develop my legal writing. This exercise will not only help me perform better in law school (I hope), but also give me an idea of what my strengths and interests are, thus giving me an insight into which path to choose after completing law school. I am currently interning at a boutique law firm where the cases are mostly transactional. Working at a hardcore corporate law firm was what I had envisioned for myself quite early on (blame Suits), without having any idea about the field.
Lately, I have realised that it might have a tinge of monotony. It seems immature to come to this conclusion after a month of interning, but then again, I am a teenager figuring things out. I aim to cover diverse internships which give me clarity. But for now, I want to start by writing on doctrines and case laws that I find interesting or want to critique.
In addition to developing the aforementioned skill, I also want to engage in writing in a creative capacity. I have been told by a friend that I should try my hand out at writing. I want to write about love, loss, grief, food, friendship, fashion, philosophy and other things that interest me, without having the pressure of the instant gratification that are likes.
The purpose of creative writing for me is to provide a medium for expressing my ideas and thoughts. I want to put myself out there using Nicheless as a platform which, quite conveniently, only allows brief pieces of writing. There are too many things to write about in this universe, and I hope to at least cover the ones which have managed to gain a fraction of my interest.
