Procrastination: a series
I don't have a plan for this blog. However, every time I considered writing a new post, I procrastinated.
I watched TBBT for the nth time. I started reading a new book. I binged that new song album I haven't gotten around to. I began entertaining my pets. The mix of things I do to put writing away is endless.
So my first series of blog posts will talk about procrastination. Why do we indulge in moments that need our raw honesty? I'm not critiquing the idea. I think it's a great way to distract ourselves when life's overwhelming.
But it isn't a good idea if you have pressing things you should be doing.
For instance, the past week, I found myself grappling with my core responsibilities at work. We had a huge launch and up until that happened, my tasks became synonymous with what the launch required.
Now that the launch is over, I find myself struggling to go back to my primary tasks. Instead of sitting down and evaluating my progress so far, I ended up on booktube and took siestas in the middle of my work day. I'm not proud of it but I would do anything to escape the dread of work. (p.s. I love my work, it's just a phase)
I also think I'm hinting at escapism. But either way, I'm here to openly write about my procrastination tendencies, instances when it served me well and the times it did not.
Over a period of time, I want to refine my writing and explore topics that pique my interest - culture, ideologies and the likes. It's too soon to visualise what I will write about but I'm mostly writing for myself. I want to refine my thoughts. And what better way to do that.
