Clean starts
We waste too much time waiting.
We wait for the clock to strike the perfect 9 AM, 10 AM, 2.30 PM, or 11 PM to resume work after a break. We'll scroll through a few more reels if there are 3 minutes to 5.30 PM.
I used to do that while studying. I would arbitrarily take a break and then resume at half past something. Did you do the same?
Now when I think about it feels like we keep delaying things in life in the same way. We wait for the perfect time or a conditional half-past something to resume. Sometimes we don't start and keep waiting.
Most of us seem to be obsessed with clean starts. We like to feel prepared. But for what? For more waiting?
What if you started on any day of the year? What if you didn't wait for a new year or your birthday to start anew? With nothing else but intention? Entirely unsure how something would pan out or without wondering how prepared you felt, what if you just jumped?
The worst outcome would be you quit mid-way or find out you're no good. Either way, one less thing to try?
If you take a break and look for a clean start after doing something for a while, I understand. But why deny oneself a sense of accomplishment from just getting things done?
You could also be holding yourself back if you've signed up for something out of compulsion, not a choice. We look for outs when we are indifferent to getting done with something or waiting. We are just passively holding all that energy.
And if that's the reason for you, why not reconsider the task and spend some time finding another idea or activity you'd like to try?
