Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
i have heard a lot of conversations attempt to define an NFT era in art as it occurs. the thing is, art eras are rarely defined at their current time. but for the sake of conversation an NFT could be seen as post-post-modern art where a standard is starting to emerge in the format is it created and the exploration of…
DAY 1/90 - 16:00 My loved ones seem to have reduced hope in me? just feels that way, I cried a lot till I was tired of crying. The atmosphere feels so strange. I am really really broke and will be having only 2 meals this week till my salary gets credited. I am back to feeling pathetic and numb. Gonna to a 3 month…
It's Thursday, 26 December. I'm hunkering down at home after yesterday's Christmas gathering, intending to complete my GTD Mind Sweep by the end of the weekend, if not tomorrow. THE IMAGE On Tuesday, 19 November, I rekindled my end of year mind sweep, while at my fave nearby coffeehouse, Cafe 4 -…
[since pretty much no one would be able to find this link unless they saw my goodreads account, i've decided to put a lot of my book-focused ideas here] some readers are also writers, but sometimes people are just purely readers. i'm watching tokyochemist on youtube compare virginia woolf and ottessa moshfegh and she…
in philosophy, epoche is a method to completely isolate our perception from preconceived notions about it. it's bare thoughts, unpolluted by judgement, bias, prejudice. the truth takes birth here, and then it is distorted by our imposition of existing confirmational bias on it. if the core truth is absolute (there…
My combo family/girlfriend trip taught me three lessons about packing for a ten-day trip. I haven’t traveled much in recent years. I confess I tend to overpack. A three-day getaway poses no problem. Ten days with weather changes proved a challenge. I had a strategy. I packed mix-and-match items and planned to layer…
Writing like a lawyer for over twenty five years had clogged my system with literary cholesterol. I was never a fan of legal jargon - you won't get a "hereinafter" out of me - but years of legal writing made Jaitly a dull scribe. Giving legal advice, or drafting a contract, requires words to have unambiguous meanings:…
my eyes hurt from reading all night, my mind having grown imperceptibly rich, lacking focus. i think so little about my own life now, because of how much i involve myself in other people's business/thoughts TO BE HONEST. i think 76% of the rationale for reading is "I need to read if I want to write" and why do i want…
Complete: to make whole or perfect; to mark the end of So many pursuits are taken up with the idea of perfection or wholeness arriving at some point. But what is ever complete? There is no state of perfection or wholeness that can be achieved. The closest thing to it might just be recognizing the futility of the chase…
The goal: stay within 380 words. I liked a tweet I read yesterday: https://twitter.com/dremilyanhalt/status/1587111368288866311?s=20&t=P90hmJLnVlsM4qxtKkIQ Dr. Emily Anhalt asked men in therapy about their most powerful learning from therapy. I suppose therapy means lots of things, but I'll try one definition: you're…
Advice from successful media creators must be taken with a pinch of salt. "Start writing online". "Start a podcast". "Start a YouTube channel". Okay, but hold on. Imagine two scenarios: 1) An online writer making a $500K a year 2) An investor making $5 million a year Both love what they do equally. Both work the same…
Imagine if a team could share ownership of a company's social media presence without being told what to do and without a huge amount of process or formality getting in the way. The way I see it, a company exists to help people solve a problem. They already have a group of the most qualified people to solve that…
I'm discovering that when hardship strikes, it's tempting to wallow in self-doubt, but it’s more rewarding to put in the effort to prevail. Don't get me wrong, feelings are important but in the long run if your feelings keep you stagnant - then it's time to activate your will and fight for the outcomes you truly…
You started to feel anxious because You are comparing yourself to your friends subconsciously Your brain tells you and giving you signals that you didn’t know “Preparing yourself” don’t mean you need to putting yourself into stressful situations It just means adjusting your mindset That given certain situations - what…
We must know that there's a difference between being free and doing nothing. I'm a type of person who keeps track of things, set reminders, and make to-do lists. These are few of the ways to sort out my fucked-up prioritisation. But there are days, where I've got work to do, targets to complete, goals to fulfil, and I…
it doesn't happen everyday, folks you've heard it here first: high motivation karate tai-chi ok so you basically do karate moves, but with every move, you also say something motivational and it's a whole sequence you essentially memorize a monologue of positive mantras as well as a karate sequence (1) ready position…
i've been doing this: (1) reading until my brain can't take any more words [currently reading fitzgerald and thomas bernhard; loving both] (2) music a lot of music (3) write repeat that's my fun routine. my unfun routine is boat work. ha.
The duality baffles me. Of who I am, and who people think I am. Actually fuck duality. Let's call it the unholy trinity. Disgusts me. Who I am, who I think I am, and who people perceive me to be. It's surreal once you become slightly aware that you might already be living in a multiverse. Of your own faults. Of your…
Today, it’s easier than ever to live the life you want. It doesn’t take long scrolling social media to see words like intention, mindfulness, and goals. The question is, do you know what you want? “Nothing will bring you peace except yourself.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson You must know yourself to know what you want. With…
Walking through the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh today, and being surrounded by all this art, innovation, monuments, and historical achievements in one place, I was struck by the complexity and vastness of our world. Realizing just how small our individual roles really are is humbling. We can only…
Can people be captivated by unknown personalities solely by the way they write or will they be motivated primarily by subjects or interests. My main gripe with normal blogging is that I have a very diverse set of interests. I work in IT, I do photography, work on old motorcycles and spend a lot of time working out.…
"Take care, there's a 30 zone here," my father reminded me. We were driving through a generic German suburban street, wide and well maintained. There were nice and wide sidewalks on both sides of the road, bordered by a red stripe of a bike lane. Slowing down to 30 km/h made me feel strange, expecting some imminent…
Imagine yourself inside one of many sections - zoom the screen - you see small circles of “players” Life is literally a series of choices in a game You feeling anxiety (thinking yourself not doing the right things); And not thinking because you have no one to compare to ie comfort zone But once you know about “there’s…
I am a shelf builder who displays my creativity, in my areas of practice, on my shelves. Recently, friend, Marlon, shared about the three domains in creativity - corporeal, hermeneutic, analytical - where Christian Julmi unpacks Hermann Schmitz's phenomenological approach. In the same conversation, Marlon and I…
Since I retired in June, I've struggled with feeling like I am doing enough. I stay busy and accomplish a lot. For some reason, changing from full-time to retirement makes me think I should do more than I am. I think I found the secret to feeling good about slowing down. Stop worrying about the next thing. Be and stay…
Situation: There is a couple at the coffee shop. She is 37, he seems older. They are not talking at all. He is onto his cellphone. Story: I wonder is she still remembers the first time that he kiss her. Now, there is only distance between them. It feels like today she didn't take any time to choose whatever she was…
You can freshen up a habit to make it feel new. Each habit has small variables to manipulate. Small changes can spark new interest or enhance the experience. Take journaling, for example. After journaling for a year, I wanted to add something. I wasn’t in danger of giving up journaling. I didn’t see the harm in…
Yesterday, I was watching my some random reels and one of them I could totally connect to. I feel like I’ve lived my whole life trying to not take up too much space. It’s so liberating to have found vocabulary to describe exactly how you’ve been feeling your entire life. I see it in all parts of my life. Personal and…
In the wild landscapes of our past, our ancestors' very survival depended on coordination, without which they couldn't hunt anything of significance. Somewhere down the line, an important thing started to happen. Men started hunting while the women began foraging, this clear cut division of roles & responsibilities…
If one believes a certain proposition to be true for all times and for all places, the proposition can be said to be universally true. Conversely, if a proposition is only true for a particular time and place, the proposition may be true for other times and other places, but not necessarily so. Consider the…
Life is simple, but we make it complicated. Life is a like a game, but at times we focus on it too much. Life is exciting, but sometimes we take precautions Life is coming out of your comfort zone, but we are scared of falling into pieces. Life is like dancing in the rain, but we are afraid we might catch a cold. It…
As I see myself on pictures I’m not happy with how I look. I been self aware that i’m a big boy and have been all my life, only take action as if was seasonal work and don’t commit to myself. Looking at this picture really makes me reflect a lot on my bad habits and how I’m really just poisoning myself.. I don’t have…
A quick thought; Interesting results for AI portraits come when a prompt is structured with two genders. An example prompt; a photograph of a woman by Man Ray. Thinking about how this sentence can be confused and how the AI could be interpreted. The woman is taken as priority, it guides the overall features, then Man…
Today marks the end of my three-month study abroad in Cambridge. It's been a wonderful journey, filled with profound learning, unforgettable experiences, and a deep affection for the city. Initially, the thought of this chapter closing is saddening, and it's natural to feel this way. Transience often conjures feelings…
“When the time comes for you to die, I will raise up your descendant, one of your own sons, to succeed you, and I will establish his kingdom. He will build a house for my name, and I will make his dynasty permanent.” 2Samuel 7.12-13. God blesses those who serve and reverence him, as he did David, but he thinks far…
In a world full of information and distractions sometimes we take for granted to look out the window, listen to our environment, and think for ourselves. Having something to say or not, sometimes we need to be an observer, and feel in some way alive, by living instead of comparing or consuming other people's lives.…
Hey guys, Today we'll talk about the legend of Amrita Sher-Gil. In memory of her life and the legacy she left behind. For all the things we read and hear about people of Ms. Sher-gil stature we ourselves have a personal relationship with them that's based on how we consumed them. This is my relationship with the…
we don't SET an intention -- we don't CHOOSE it we become AWARE of the intention within when i'm by myself, i flow and i get myself to a peak state of high but it is a very fragile state and very easily interrupted. so i kind of don't want to travel this winter because i don't see how anything external can be more…
I was about 11-12 I think when I first fell in love. I’ve fallen in love many times since. They say first love lasts forever, true to an extent. Then you have the second love which hits even harder than the first and you think this is it. We are gonna make it. Only to have it all come crashing down. I’ve seen the pack…
Recently, the Indian prime minister Narendra Modi lambasted what he called 'revdi' culture at a public event. He was referring to the political practice of enticing voters - especially the poorer and lesser educated variety - with material goods in exchange for votes (revdi refers to a food item). For anyone who is…
Perspectives are so important.. You can be whatever you are if you put yourself to it Really there’s a “better” way to do it than you did - and you’re getting there; Calling off MC Telling people no Striking conversations Putting yourself into uncomfortable situations And growth. However there some thing you can do.…
It's a World Cup! In December! In Qatar! The number of column inches submitted to the internet about this binge of sport is legion. This post is about marketing, however. Comedian Joe Lycett has been so outraged by the coalescence of football money and questionable regimes (under 25 woman in Qatar? Get permission, as…
A classic blocker is the idea of your siblings reading what you wrote (i.e. that thing you thought in a certain circumstance): that is pure deep terror.
i kind of want my job back. i want to play and teach the piano again. SIGH fuck. get writing. get writing.
"The thumbs-up-react is actually a war crime," I texted. This was in response to me using the question-mark-react, to which you said, "the question mark react is an act of terror." This is how I want to fold. At first, when I said 'I'm folding,' I meant like a fitted sheet: loose, unstructured, but still crumpling,…
I read a quote today that went something like this: "Writing is thinking. If you're thinking without writing, you only think you're thinking." I know this to be true. I've always felt sharpest after a writing session. But I am lazy. Over the coming weeks, I'm going to try and publish my thoughts about whatever it is I…
