You May Want To Manipulate The Small Variables Of Your Habits
You can freshen up a habit to make it feel new.
Each habit has small variables to manipulate.
Small changes can spark new interest or enhance the experience.
Take journaling, for example. After journaling for a year, I wanted to add something.
I wasn’t in danger of giving up journaling. I didn’t see the harm in enhancing the experience. I tried doodling and sketching. Those additions felt like work.
After an Art Journaling class, I may have found something that sticks.
We had access to stickers, markers, decorative pictures, and scrapbook paper in class. The task was to decorate pages and write what we were inspired to write.
I took a different approach.
In a few weeks, I would finish the journal I presently wrote in. I chose to decorate pages, leaving room for writing.
I started the journal a week ago. No two pages look alike.
Each day there's a new layout to write around, different decor to inspire me. From day to day, I don’t know what it will be. When I have the time, I embellish a page for future writing.
My journaling hasn’t changed. My writing has the same elements. Each day I have a touch of novelty to the page. Journaling suddenly feels more creative.
You can do the same with your habits-a new walking path, a new seat at the dining table. It can be easy to freshen up a habit.
If you freshened up one habit, what would it be?
