readers vs writers
[since pretty much no one would be able to find this link unless they saw my goodreads account, i've decided to put a lot of my book-focused ideas here]
some readers are also writers, but sometimes people are just purely readers.
i'm watching tokyochemist on youtube compare virginia woolf and ottessa moshfegh and she strikes me as a pure reader
she's so keen on analysis but she also seems so enthralled with the things she reads; she reminds me of an english teacher
she makes me feel as though she is so totally fulfilled by what she reads that she has no want for more
i wonder if people who are pure readers and who never venture into writing are people who are so pleased with the existing body of literature that their favorite book already exists out there, and maybe they have even a "type" that they really love and that type exists in abundance
whereas readers who want something that isn't there yet have to craft to enjoy
writers are DIY readers
writers are chefs who satisfy their own strange cravings
