Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
Working in real life construction teaches you people that are working low level jobs (usually labour work) have more technical capabilities in terms of the way they think (programmed to think: how. dimensions in xyz. where and when to get the necessary tools) But the people on the management levels do not necessarily…
I was robbing myself by multitasking. I thought by multitasking, I was getting more done. I could check off the boxes and move on to ... more multitasking. Every task was stressful. I was robbing myself of enjoying the process of completing any task. Now I’m consciously trying to be present in what I choose to do at a…
the writing (that i'm reading, that i wrote, that i'm editing) is getting better. it is less sour. oh thank god this is salvageable. also i seem to encounter norwegians who make me think "you are so cool bc we are so similar" but i am not even remotely scandinavian and i think it has a lot to do with how they like to…
At least when it comes to new forms of social media. Kinda crazy that there are still less than 2000 accounts on this site right now. I guess we will see if it lasts. I'll try to give some random updates from time to time.
For a change, I'm not fishing for a topic in the river of my thoughts. I was thinking about the idea of feeling heard today. In fact, I got thinking about it when I first interned as a journalist. I spent most days in those two months running from pillar to post, attending press meetings, gathering 'newsbites' from…
Is to do every single little thing right Even if you’re out of time You still use NOW as a start Wake up and it’s a new beginning Put 💯 onto every single task I want you to monitor how you breathe All your action is going to make so many difference So you gotta fortify your mind; put a purpose Rather than feeling the…
I'm sitting here in Rome, within spitting distance from the Arch of Titus, which commemorates the sacking of Jerusalem two thousand years ago. I'm sitting here, as a Jew, thinking to myself, well, they must've really thought something of the Jews then, to have built themselves an arch commemorating the destruction of…
hospitals are scary - their cream tinted walls that seem to stretch out infinitely, the clutter of people walking and what seems to be the most terrifying is the occasional stretchers filled with sick people that pass by. you see their faces, their eroded smiles and the only a husk of the person they used to be -…
I saw Homebound today. It was heartfelt. It showed me a side of India that I know nothing about. How their lives go. What their routines are. What they aspire to be. What problems they deal with. Part caste and religion plays in small ways in their daily experience. I hold Varun Grover in a very high regard. I'd see…
It's counterintuitive but I think it's true. We struggle to find time to stretch our creative muscles. But modern creativity doesn't come with more freedom. It comes with more restriction. Think of Morning Pages. It became wildly successful among creative professionals because it forces you to write 3 pages. No more,…
I first learned the word blasphemy in sixth grade, when I carried a laptop of one brand in a case embroidered with the logo of another. "Isn't that blasphemy?" a teacher joked. I asked him what that meant. I don't remember the exact explanation, but I do remember his tone being flippant. Blasphemy is one of those…
Can people be captivated by unknown personalities solely by the way they write or will they be motivated primarily by subjects or interests. My main gripe with normal blogging is that I have a very diverse set of interests. I work in IT, I do photography, work on old motorcycles and spend a lot of time working out.…
A few days back I was planning a trip with my family. I had to cast Google maps to my TV so that everyone can view map on big screen. This is when I realized how much Google maps sucks in landscape mode. The image shown above is a screenshot taken on my phone so the map is visible here but when we cast to TV, the…
When you're younger, you are encouraged to be ambitious. As the years fly by, you learn the important of accepting. Of late, I've found myself in a tricky spot - figuring out the right balance of ambition and acceptance. I would consider myself an ambitious person. There's a lot I think I can achieve and when I look…
For the longest time I've had a not so healthy relationship with consuming content. I would feel guilty about watching a show or a movie. One of the major reasons was that I had procrastinated so much on the things I should've done that when it was leisure time, it felt wrong. I felt like I hadn't earned it. Have you…
if i had infinite money i would be so happy. and i wouldn't even buy anything extravagant i have literally no need for it. i would just live the way i do forever but not worry about money. there are people who would wanna work even if they didn't have to. not. me. i dont wanna work. i just wanna read, write, relax,…
In every job, there is a toughness and a hardness (difficulty) - everything has a level for you to attain; not everything is easy. In every job. Even if you’re not in the dream job yet you cannot lose your identity. You have to fight hard and do your best in every situation - earn as much, or learn as much: and do…
Putting a lot of time into working; thats not the smart way to get money Should balance between both How much should you work And that makes me question - if I’m not working am I using the max of my capabilities because working just makes you stagnant! Am I reading, am I learning a course, gym, socialising, what am I…
It is never a good morning to mourn.
All things and beings that exist are born from the vastness of the universe, shaped from its matter, yet we wander through life believing ourselves to be independent, everlasting souls, existing within but separate from the very cosmos from which we were created. This illusion of separatedness is the mind’s deception,…
People bother me all of the time with a great idea. "You'll love it, and I really think you can something with it," they say. I can tell they are excited. They're ready to tell anyone who will listen. They tell me about their great idea, as though I don't have a stack of ideas at home that I've been ignoring. Stuff I…
I tried to nap twice today but my mind was racing too much.
When I came back home, I naturally established a routine. I would wake up when my body wanted to (around 8 to 9 am), make breakfast, and study. After that, I would go out if needed or have lunch at home, then study again and go for a run (if it was a workout day). In the evening, after dinner, I would sit down with my…
Our friends say they’ve experienced a lot of goodbyes and they used to not bother even saying hello until they learned that there’s a possibility you see each other again and that possibility makes the hello and intermittent goodbyes worthwhile. But there are many people I miss who I will never see again. The feeling…
You don’t have to make the “perfect environment” You can make yourself an own garden by changing yourself You don’t have to be “clean” and tidy only at home not at work - you can do it at work too Only people who are good at their day job Could be good at their side hustles too I believe Strive to be good and better…
(original: 15 January 2006) part of series while moving from san diego to the sf bay area ... GARAGE SALE FUN ... Yesterday (Saturday), our little compound had a garage sale - which was preceded by the garage clean out on Friday. Matt, Garry, Scud (an awesome bassador) and I sifted through "lots o' stuff". (picture -…
When there is pink and gray in a sunset, the pink stands out because of the contrast. On a cloudy day after a sunny one, we might not always appreciate the clouds, but after days of rain, a single cloudy day with no rain feels like a gift. Why can't we enjoy it as it is, feeling fortunate for a cloudy day, which has…
I created my account in hopes to improve my daily writing. However I've noticed only posts are from 2022. Hello world? edit I have discovered the search bar - HELLO WORLD!
Today I am thinking of Alex the parrot again. The first and only known non-human to ask an existential question. His last words to his caretaker: "You be good, I love you. See you tomorrow". I wonder how much animals can really know. Octopi come to mind when I think of consciousness. They are very smart -- smarter…
Sometimes I get a rush of motivation for studying, even if it’s a subject I don't necessarily like. I enjoy the process and the feeling of learning. However, when I start to feel the weight of others’ expectations about my performance or results, that spark of motivation quickly fades. It’s strange because many people…
There's some quote out there which says that things which converge will diverge and vice versa. I feel we humans are in a divergent phase today. You can see signs of it all around - rise of nationalism in countries like US, India, UK, high tensions between superpowers like the US and China, outright war in Ukraine -…
At the end of our stay at a pleasant inn last year, I wanted to tip the room staff. I didn't have any cash, there was no on-prem ATM, and hotel was in the middle of nowhere. I had an idea: why not place placards or cards in the rooms at the end of a stay that would allow guests to tip via Venmo, Cash App, or some…
Journaling daily is required to build a habit. I’ve heard others say: I don’t have anything to journal about. My day was great, what do I write now? There are no set rules for what you should write or how much you should write. You'll have more to write if you use a balanced approach. I write the same words I would…
Shit day - but never forget where you came from & lose sight of where you wanna be. Be like Alvin Tan. Confident, if not anything he at least brings his best out. Don’t have to be shy and negative about yourself - thinking what you say is not going to be correct. Just say you whatever you want to say. At least you’re…
By being so harsh on yourself doesn’t work. Yes noticing the problem - but magnifying it doesn’t do anything - it’s just a toxic trait that you’ve dealt with when you were young (playing the victim card) Your conversations - with your housemate Why do you even need to talk about the negatives - the neighbours bla bla…
Extractive systems exhaust resources by removing them faster than they replenish. These systems are parasitic, while regenerative systems are symbiotic. Regenerative systems protect and enrich what they depend on. Consider a few regenerative examples: - A regenerative economy would protect the natural energy systems…
When we prepared for our move from plush to mush, we planned to live mostly without electricity. Solar power was - and still is - part of our plan. Since that part requires more funds than currently in our tiny bank account, we rely on whatever electricity is available. I have mixed feelings about just how easy it has…
Feel the pain. Look for the silver lining. Feed a distraction. Journal the thoughts. Blame not yourself. Think of the other times you’ve gotten over things. This too shall pass.
More need to realize the age we as a species will soon enter. While the old system titters at the brink, the dawn of a new way of life will follow quickly and make the suffering of this age die like a bad habit. Let me explain (and this is the perfect platform to do this). Every technology we’ve built has iterated…
Due to too much suspicious activity on Instagram Listening to “supposedly motivational podcast” But not aligning actions (WHICH IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO DO) DOING is most important and most vital Else it’s not important You should try out certain scheduling technics Which you’ve done quite well one day Just need…
L. Frank Baum’s book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, which appeared in 1900, is often held to be a parable for the Populist campaign of William Jennings Bryan, who twice ran for president on the Free Silver platform—vowing to replace the gold standard with a bimetallic system that would allow the free creation of silver…
AhhA an unexpected result from design presents itself as 'pure' dynamic creation. the next step for many is to panic or deem that design a failure. i like to think of it in terms of post-rationalization. now that design can succeed in a new form to tell more stories...
I googled synonyms for happiness because I didn't want to sound cliché but all of them sounded too pretentious. Lol. This is just a personal take on the feeling that everyone is so bent on finding. I’d read headlines off of newspapers and magazines that told me stories of people and the lives they lived. To me at that…
I might come off sounding like a sociopath in this post, but oh well. Here goes. I realized today at work that I don't like when people agree with me. I'm on a new team and I've noticed a lot of problems with our processes. There seems to be a lack of automation. Other software engineers may know what I'm talking…
