Multitasking Robbed Me Of Being Present
I was robbing myself by multitasking.
I thought by multitasking, I was getting more done. I could check off the boxes and move on to ... more multitasking. Every task was stressful.
I was robbing myself of enjoying the process of completing any task.
Now I’m consciously trying to be present in what I choose to do at a given moment—no more multitasking.
I've discovered focus and less stress.
The focus required to be present slows down time. It allows me to enjoy the process of a task.
With more focus and less stress, I identified several factors of being present.
Gratitude for being present and my ability to pursue a task
Being mindful of the task.
Good physical and mental health.
Knowing that my actions have a purpose.
Enjoying the process.
Accomplishing a task.
Knowing I put forth my best effort.
Some factors exist in isolation. Some are dependent on others. I control the factors that help me be present in my actions.
My decision to stop multitasking helped me identify these factors.
