Movie: Homebound
I saw Homebound today. It was heartfelt. It showed me a side of India that I know nothing about. How their lives go. What their routines are. What they aspire to be. What problems they deal with. Part caste and religion plays in small ways in their daily experience.
I hold Varun Grover in a very high regard. I'd see anything the man is involved it. Super Boys of Malegaon is another recommendation. Do see the documentary on YT along with it. Ofc the movie is dramatised for cinematic experience but such an amazing cast and important story on cinema, fame and friendship.
I digress as always. Back to Homebound, it's about two friends and the plight of the working class we so often don't see. It's also about covid and how it affected people of other financial backgrounds in ways we missed living in nice homes.
Covid is a tricky thought for me, having bottled up dealing with a dead uncle it was big question on should I unwrap it today. Decided not to since I got an interview tomorrow.
I was also listening to this podcast on healthcare and hospital business by the founder of Superhealth and that added a layer of things to the day.
I lately hate what's happened to mainstream cinema. God forbid the kind of stories that get made when there's stories like Homebound.
A friend mentioned they'd want to have something like The Modern Family and that led me to think Indian TV only no Soaps like that. What is a reference of a happy family is a big gaping hole in the Indian subcontinent. Movies in the past gave references to a life well lived. I wish more such movies are made. Cinema is an act of reflection to me I think.
