I quite liked Stutz
For the longest time I've had a not so healthy relationship with consuming content. I would feel guilty about watching a show or a movie.
One of the major reasons was that I had procrastinated so much on the things I should've done that when it was leisure time, it felt wrong.
I felt like I hadn't earned it. Have you felt this too?
Off late though it has been better. I watched Stutz last weekend and felt seen for some of the ways I've coped with hardships in.
I enjoyed the informality in the conversations between Jonah and Stutz. The conversation made it easy to reconcile with the fact that at the end of the day all of us struggle with similar things.
And that there is something you can do about it. Something more than talk therapy. I'm unsure if my personal thoughts on therapy matter here because I've never really done it.
However, I am certain that it isn't enough. So much of how to do better and live differently requires personal initiative.
Writing is one of "the tools" mentioned in the documentary. I can vouch for how helpful this really is.
I used to write quite irregularly from about 2010. In 2015 or so I began journalling/ free writing. Anytime I felt disoriented I would simply write all the thoughts that came up.
It became a reflex of sorts, and it helped. It really did. I'm grateful that I found a no frills way of regaining some composure.
Not only did it help me gain composure, it also helped me feel more clearly. I was able to check-in with myself, and create a space for whatever came up.
If you're struggling with any discomfort, I would urge you to watch Stutz. Hopefully, you'll find your tool.
