What is about to happen
More need to realize the age we as a species will soon enter. While the old system titters at the brink, the dawn of a new way of life will follow quickly and make the suffering of this age die like a bad habit.
Let me explain (and this is the perfect platform to do this).
Every technology we’ve built has iterated upon itself, informed by the environment in which it was conceived. The costs of technology and their operation have always siloed gains out of the hands of the many and into the hands of the few.
The inevitable conclusion to this suboptimal structure comes when the technology necessary for the comforts of modern life are not locked away in a factory. When the means of production are within walking distance of consumption.
Enter the opportunity to usher in a new era for humanity.
The posts to follow will be a journey of working in collaboration to transform a patch of land into a biodiverse and abundant closed-circuit system of production. Where modern comforts are grown and produced onsite and where hierarchy is unnecessary and unwelcome.
This is both a thought experiment and a plan of action. Where self-sufficiency meets community, where productivity meets play, where technology meets small-scale, and where humans find purpose amongst each other and the living world.
The question- Tomorrow, a few hundred to a few thousand people come together to build a community, with unlimited resources and an acre of land per person, how would they go about this task? What specifically would need to be designed and built? Thinking of every detail from small scale grain processing to waste water treatment. And all built to eventually function without any outside inputs.
The seeds have already been sown.
