Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
We're so obsessed with the idea of permanence--we now fully believe in it. So much so, that it might as well be a new religion. Apart from words like 'forever' and 'endless' being used to describe our 'undying' affection/dislike for one another we've started to manifest permanence in other ways. Mostly by taking life…
Recently I have been hesitant to write my thoughts here too frequently. The reason is that I try to avoid repeating myself and strive to write something of value. There has been many things occupying my mind recently, so I will try to keep sharing them here for this outlet has a unique charm...
It's been a while since I wrote on Nicheless. Now that I'm writing here again it feels like a return to form. What happens when you undergo a major change in your life? It's different for everyone, some withdraw from their social circles, while others become happier and more open in general. Is it the same for hobbies…
The first question, without fail, in our capitalist society: what do you do? I meet you for the first time. You always lead with ‘what do you do’? Went to a blogging meetup full of strangers recently. I could tell immediately from the energy and the question re: my work that several people were not from the Pacific…
i've been talking to a newish friend a lot lately and i am getting oversaturated with him! SATT. gnuag g'ha he is great in some ways; tenacity of spirit, willingness to try, writes great music but my god i know other people with spirit, willingness and talent and who ALSO have verbal intelligence and philosophical…
I've come to realize how so much of my life has been circumscribed by fear; of people, of loss, of consequences (intended or otherwise). How that fear has quietly and silently shaped what I've done or not done, and how it has hung over my life, forever clouding my ability to see hope on the horizon. What I would have…
The lucky ones among us get a chance to grow up with our families which in most likelihood have a parental figure or two to provide for our education, medical care and learning. The lucky ones, someone calls us the lucky ones and we don't believe it. How can we be the lucky ones? Everything is laid down for us - which…
Woke up at 4 AM to go through PDF of Consumer Behaviour, and later got to know that it was only 1.5 units out of 4. After messaging Bhola to send me the important topics from rest of 2.5 units, I went back to sleep and when her first message came, I woke up and went through the concepts she told me to read once. Then…
When smartphones are invented and we start using them a lot, people always say that the next generation growing up on smartphones will be less smart. Because they don't have time to ponder. But it's been 16 years since Steve invented the iPhone, are we seeing a dumber generation? That would be easy to identify.…
Turns out the hardworking entrepreneur and the wise monk were right. The entrepreneur and the monk both lived the ultimate goal in their minds already. They experienced it mentally. Beautiful women, sandy beaches, all the food and fun in the world. Some say we have to get to that life before we realize it is not what…
I just read "Selbstdenken" and I've been reading Byung Chul Han's "Agonie des Eros" and... Schopenhauer's language is even clearer and simpler than Han's... And Han is already rather acknowledged for his easy style. I think to be popular it's better to be easy-to-understand. That's why Harry Potter was such a hit. And…
The blank page is daunting to even seasoned journalers. Using journaling prompts in the early stages of building a journaling habit solves the blank-page dilemma. There are two strategies for finding journaling prompts. 1.)Buy a journal with prompts Amazon lists 10,000+, ranging from one different question-a-day (yes,…
Today while walking in the contemporary museum there were so many pieces that I just resonated with, sometimes I would catch myself smiling or even feeling a feeling sadness depending on the emotion that the artist is going for. Its crazy how as humans we can transmit emotions and feelings through storytelling, words…
i am a temporary software developr my code is written is compiled but never commited i forget it the binary exists but its not mine anymore it's someone elses
I've been living in Singapore for a few years now. It's amazing to how advanced this city is. Coming back to the city, after a trip to smaller towns in Asia, feels like time travel. If you want a glimpse into what the future could look like, visit Singapore. Once the sense of awe subsides - it does keep coming back…
There were two doors. Not identical. No, that would have been easier. One was familiar, worn at the edges, its handle shaped by years of use. The other stood newer, not inviting exactly, but deliberate. It suggested movement, not comfort. He had the key to neither. That was the first mistake people make when they…
i'm doing insurance claim stuff and i thought about what to name the folder where i'm gathering all my receipts and i named it what it is, "consequential damage" but then it struck me as somehow poetic and badass and very usable for an artistic project.
It’s so difficult to persuade yourself to work on weekends. Long time ago it was easy, maybe I was younger and more involved in the tasks. I didn’t scare to be fired, I just work. It was interesting but there were a lot of work.
to build a resilient & flexible system, you need iteration. it’s inevitable. a system can only prove its value when exposed to multiple different contexts. if it fails to adapt to a new context, it’s not a great system yet. as you iterate on multiple contexts, the system will progressively adapt to cover more edge…
I wasn't receiving any emails for days. I had been too busy to really question why, even though I was expecting responses from various outreaches. The issue became clear when I needed a verification code for a signup and it didn't come through. I sent myself a test email - nothing. Total panic set in thinking about…
1. Cosmos cosmos.so It's a really good looking site with an okayish free tier offering. Sadly uses some AI for auto-tagging and their search engine. They also have an iOS app. 2. Arena are.na I really like this. Their design is absolutely top-tier. Pretty generous free tier offering (you can save 200 "blocks" or…
the most normal taste i have is in music. i'm really into the 1975 right now, but specifically 3 songs: - about you - robber - all i need to hear ("somebody else" is great too but it doesn't fit the vibe of those three songs i just listed that i feel is the best aspect of the band; i basically want to feel like i'm…
Lately, the past two weeks, I have been trying to figure out or trying to answer the question "Who am I?". It has been a couple of rough months for me, given a recent unemployment, but, I now have time to slow down, think, and prioritise what are the most important things to me. What I want of my life? What I value?…
My son eyes aren't teaming properly. They create blurry images. To compensate his brain shuts off his weak eye and overloads his dominant eye. This knock-on effects are reading fatigue, inability to stay focused, etc. We may have scratched this up to ADHD and sought medication. Thankfully, my wife kept pulling the…
Must I have a title here? What if a paragraph suffices? Does this site allow for microblogging? So many questions!
In the wake of the implosion of Twitter, and owing to a long simmering disillusionment in the major social media platforms, I have been actively checking out new communities online. One such community that came to my attention via Hacker News is Nicheless. Thus far I have not dug too deep into it. I like the UI. I…
What a humbling experience has been this one week. Met some wonderful people and felt the pain of some random people sharing the same space as us on planet earth. All of us have it so different and our needs/ demands are so diverse but when you participate in medical camps as these you realise how privileged you are.…
I guess having a stream of thought is a lot like a thread. It can break once it becomes too long. Which is easy when sentences are stuffed with filler words and excessive adjectives. Spelling errors galore. Reading back with proof reading eyes feels like a draughting task. Many essays and thoughts abandon before they…
my transitional coworker, a coworker who took over my piano teaching job for me and who, during this transition, became my friend, is a musician more precisely stated, his main thing, as he sees it, is the music he makes, and this piano teaching gig, as he sees it, is just a side hustle -- it's the root that nourishes…
i'm starting to look down on people who don't read but at the same time i'm starting to worry if i'm reading too much? i wonder if i'm missing out on living my REAL life whilst i read about people living theirs i have a whole fucking routine of reading. (1) reading a rotating lineup of books but also looking for new…
Separate the time out for everything. Don’t go beyond the time. Look at Bryan - comes early. Go home on time, but it was effective. He didn’t do anything wrong. That’s the most effective thing to do. Going past your time just because you fucked up some certain thing is your weakness Embrace it and improve Your Alevels…
Do things you think are stupid but other people swear by. Maybe you’re the stupid one. - Nat Eliason I fought the recommendation to journaling. Now I know everyone should. If you want to start small with a journaling habit, start with gratitude. Here are the benefits you can expect. Identifying what you have, allows…
Ainda não sei qual será o caminho que esse blog irá tomar. Quem viver, verá.
Yesterday in a class on human breast milk we discussed how it is considered a living tissue by some, because the breast milk contains living cells too. Many of these cells come from the gut associated lymphoid tissue(GALT), is what one of our professors said. And surely that led me to the next possible question, what…
can i turn my whole body, my whole being into a receptacle of love? i realized that fundamentally, the love you feel for your grandpa or dog or best friend or first hs crush or matt healy...is all the same. fundamentally, love is intense. love is enjoyable. love is PEAK PLEASURE. love is ADORATION. love is "oh you are…
Life, it seems, will fade away Drifting further, every day Getting lost within myself Nothing matters, no one else. While the rest of the old Metallica banger Fade to Black doesn't really apply to this post, I wanted to borrow generously from the past kings to start it. In a remote hyperconnected world, it is easy to…
Have you ever been pretty drunk but had these fleeting moments of clarity? Like you snap out of the buzz for a few seconds and your mind functions normally? Sometimes you have these moments even when you are not drunk. You could be going on with life as usual, going through the motions. Suddenly you snap out of it.…
AHHH... seeing a similar quote by more than one creator who i admire is like an epiphany. there is hidden meaning within their words that many do not see. "create because it needs to exist" everything else will be erased...
To be as close to being 100% authentically yourself as possible. It's a small observation that I've seen in any domain that I really dabbled into. When I was in cegep and was pretty big into fashion, you would always start copying others, but the goal was always to "find your own style." To know what you love wearing…

One of the biggest news right now is the deepest image of the universe pictured by NASA through the newly developed James Webb Space Telescope. The picture shows hundreds of galaxies which could not earlier be captured by Hubble, NASA’s old telescope which has been replaced by the Webb. NASA’s website says that…
I have always found myself constantly searching for that one thing that will turn my life around. That one solution that will solve all my problems and make everything better. I remember times when I have lacked patience and have sought instant results. For instance, when I started doing yoga, I wanted to do advanced…
"You're in the kitchen, frying up some good food, and the oil is running a little low in the pan, so you add some, and the food starts sizzling again, and the aroma fills the kitchen. That's what it felt like. It was so nice." My aunt, who is in her nineties, had her grandson, his wife, and five great-grandchildren…
Ahhh 🔁 iteration; continuous testing of an idea until one finds perfection in design. ironically perfection does not truly exists, but iterating on an idea can get design to a point that is almost perfect. i find the most relatable design does not strive to be perfect, yet it it gets so close that allows others to…
There is something strangely tender about being alive at the same time as everything else. About breathing while cities hum, seasons turn, people fall in and out of love, and the world continues without asking how you’re doing. We spend so much time believing we should have arrived somewhere by now. As though there is…
I wonder when it first dawned on me that one day I will not be here anymore. Was it when I was 12, roller-skating, back in my hometown? Afraid to fall or be thrown to the ground, always afraid to hurt myself beyond repair. Dreading the pain, my fists clenched, gliding on the edges of the rink. Or was it at 18, when I…
