Losing Your Hobbies/Interests
It's been a while since I wrote on Nicheless. Now that I'm writing here again it feels like a return to form.
What happens when you undergo a major change in your life? It's different for everyone, some withdraw from their social circles, while others become happier and more open in general. Is it the same for hobbies too?
Let's say you land a new job or start a side gig, it would make sense if you become happier but will you still engage with your hobbies the same way? For a lot of people this means less time for their hobbies as that time is taken up by whatever change happened in your life like getting married or moving to a new city/country.
It's rare to find someone who stays the same after an upheaval in their life. Your thoughts and perspective on things can change, your values and understanding changes too. If your interests stay intact and don't change, is it because what you experienced wasn't a big deal or your hobby/interest was just that important?
As I said in my previous post (https://nicheless.blog/post/hobbiesinterests-and-shiny-ro), for some people pastimes and interests can define who you are. If that's the case for you then it's likely you'll stick with your hobbies.
There's one last facet of this debate that needs to be discussed.
Experiencing loss can mean losing a part of who you are, and in those cases you may experience irreversible change. So it's natural that your interests change as you don't value them the same way as you did before.
