The Dignity of trying
There is something strangely tender about being alive at the same time as everything else. About breathing while cities hum, seasons turn, people fall in and out of love, and the world continues without asking how you’re doing.
We spend so much time believing we should have arrived somewhere by now. As though there is a version of life where confusion ends and clarity takes over permanently. But when we watch closely no one ever quite gets there. Even the most composed lives wobble. Even certainty flickers. We are all, quietly, making our way through something we do not fully understand.
And yet we manage anyway.
We wake up. We participate. We feel things deeply even when it costs us. We try again after days that did not go well. We carry worry and hope in the same pocket. We continue to care, even when caring feels foolish. There is a kind of innocence in that. A stubborn, beautiful refusal to harden completely.
Life is not waiting for us to perfect ourselves. It is unfolding with us and alongside our missteps, our pauses, our moments of courage that go unnoticed. The mess is not a failure of the process. It is the process. The uncertainty, the fluctuation, the not-knowing are signs that you are inside it, not behind.
There is nothing you are late for.
Nothing you are doing wrong by feeling this way.
You are allowed to be unsure and still belong here.
Allowed to be tired and still be worthy of wonder.
Simply being here sensing, trying, staying open is already a small miracle.
