moving slow is faster
I wasn't receiving any emails for days. I had been too busy to really question why, even though I was expecting responses from various outreaches.
The issue became clear when I needed a verification code for a signup and it didn't come through. I sent myself a test email - nothing.
Total panic set in thinking about the opportunities I might have missed in the last days.
The problem?
I had rushed through changing settings on my domain provider in the middle of another task and it accidentally deleted the MX record, which is crucial for mail forwarding. It took an anxious hour to figure that out and fix.
Not only did I lose that hour, but I also lost all the potential opportunities from the emails I never received in the meantime.
Five minutes more spent when changing the settings on my domain provider could have saved me from this.
Avoiding context switching, slowing down to double-check and reflecting regularly can actually save more time than rushing. Moving fast led to mistakes and missed opportunities.
