Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
I have never been a ferocious writer. There are many things I want to write but I feel somehow good vocabulary and ability to express myself in as simple and few a words has always eluded me. However, in this post, my goal is to just write. There may not be a specific topic or goal that I write about. Just some random…
People love to talk about themselves. They may be busy and difficult to get on the phone. But once you get them started, they are delighted to tell their life story. Use that to your advantage. -- If you haven't worked at a startup before, you probably have some idea in your head of what the experience will be like.…
lately i've felt like time is compressed. or rather, it's malformed. it's not passing normally, is what i'm trying to say, i guess. i'm incredibly busy yet feel like i don't have much to show for it. most of it feels like a constant battle to keep up with gestures at everything it's too much sometimes. most of the…
Imagine if technology treated our attention as sacred rather than a resource to extract. Imagine if technology was accountable to those affected by it rather than to those who profit from it. Imagine if technology helped us make better choices rather than incubating helplessness in the face of catastrophe. Imagine…
never have i actually made an elevator speech. in my past life as an insurance sales exec, we learned the art of the elevator speech--a succinct product pitch short enough to share with a stranger in an elevator. i want to believe i've honed the art of brevity in anything; i am, after all, writer of flash and micro.…
Due to too much suspicious activity on Instagram Listening to “supposedly motivational podcast” But not aligning actions (WHICH IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO DO) DOING is most important and most vital Else it’s not important You should try out certain scheduling technics Which you’ve done quite well one day Just need…
Forever can be broken down to a bunch of nows but can there be multiple nows? No matter how much you conquer you will always be beaten by the last second, the last mile and eventually the last breath. Which begs the question of what you really own. 20 minutes into meditation and i cannot tell whether the arms i’d…
Amazing how a simple thing like going to a new gym can cause such a torrent of thoughts in my mind. During the Holidays and the worst of the winter, many gyms, included the one I go, work reduced hours and/or not opening in the weekends. Clients are invited to use the network and go to the ones that remain with…
karl's (much younger) gf said "karl said you guys were really impressed by him" ("is that true?" she implied) and he was smiling like "you tell her, tell her what you told me" and i was like "well yeah karl is pretty much the coolest person we've ever met" he was like "told you ;)" i just love karl's confidence he…
The second post on this journal should have come sooner. When I started, I had envisioned myself writing weekly, if not daily. I had grossly underestimated the toll that a change of surroundings can take on a person. When I was back in India, I would get enamoured by how eminent writers like Hemingway used to spend…
This morning while meditating, one of the many thoughts that popped up was a simple analogy. The appropriate thing to do was to the let the thought pass, but because this was an analogy for the meditation itself, I indulged. If mind is like the ocean, then meditation is like diving The ocean's surface is rough on some…
Both my folks are the least loved, miserly happy kids in their respective families. Both have been at complete agreement to all decisions their parents have made for them. Yet both have terrible personal lives but have made peace with the perils of this life.
tradition, convention, protocol; these are tools to control and manipulate groups of people. rules are meant to enforce behaviour that is largely not natural. you basically momentarily pretend that you care, but mostly you don't. it's liberating to be able to live without having to pretend. you pretend to comply,…
What if augmented reality (AR) went beyond simply projecting (virtual, simplified) models of objects into our existing world? AR should be a true expansion of our sensory inputs, enhancing how we experience reality. Scientific instruments already achieve this by allowing us to perceive phenomena beyond our natural…
Strive for making the hardest decision Even relationships or flirting People don’t expect the easiest answer you know… it’s kinda easy to say the most obvious answer Think twice - and go for the hardest Think of this life: you’re playing the childhood game & suddenly you’re 26/27 Age is just a number. Now you gotta do…
16g of coffee ground at a setting of 1/30. 240g of water heated to 95 degrees. Bloom the coffee with 30g of water and leave it for 35 seconds. Then pour the remaining 210g of water in slow concentric circles. That's my daily routine to prepare my first cup of coffee upon waking. As long as I stick to light or medium…
There's a sickening feeling of being surrounded by darkness. What feels like an everlasting doom consuming your peripherals. You're trapped, maybe not physically, but mentally, or both. If, one stands in place, that place becomes your home. A home that echoes into the voids of your mind driving you insane. The purpose…
1. Cosmos cosmos.so It's a really good looking site with an okayish free tier offering. Sadly uses some AI for auto-tagging and their search engine. They also have an iOS app. 2. Arena are.na I really like this. Their design is absolutely top-tier. Pretty generous free tier offering (you can save 200 "blocks" or…
In 2020, I had this grand plan and it was unorthodox, but effective. I traded in my Android smart phone for a feature phone. I stopped reading the news religiously. I started to write more. And by hand. I would take notes on pen and paper writing in cursive to maximize my recall and memory. It all worked. I started…
Few years ago I've started posting on Linkedin. On various subjects. Mostly business, psychology, igaming, gambling, betting and online casinos. It's nice to have a tool with 300 words limit again. LinkedIn have changed, sadly. Good for them and not good for me. I've used it as a microblogging space. Maybe I'll use…
as current AI tools develop and more people use them. i have noticed subtle consistencies that pop up in stable diffusion. finding the consistencies and adapting them will be the difference from the average user to a unique user. one of the more obvious consistency are poses for portrait images. there are only a few…
The question of whether AI will make writers obsolete is a complex one. We can't predict the future, but it is clear that AI will change what it means to be a writer. In a recent workshop, Dan Shipper pointed out that 150 years ago, good penmanship was essential because everything had to be done by hand. Today, doing…
Every time I move - be it from my study abroad in Cambridge, back to my home in Heidelberg, to my student dorm in Munich - I go through a period of adjustment. It always takes a few days to acclimate to the surroundings. The transition often feels sad when it's time to leave (just like now, standing at the Heidelberg…
I know this phase for a long time. But only now did it occur to me, most of the things I wanted, or Future is already here. I just didn't know ( Discovery ) and it is not well distributed ( Distribution ). I.e It is still the same old Discovery and Distribution Problem. How do we solve this? What can we do to help.…
“We are splinters and mosaics; not, as they used to hold, immaculate, monolithic, consistent wholes.” schreef Virginia Woolf in een van haar dagboeken. Wanneer ik schrijf raak ik soms gefrustreerd met de manier waarop ik mijn gedachtenstromen volg, laat dwalen en met vele omwegen weer terug probeer te leiden. Ik denk…
When you're younger, you are encouraged to be ambitious. As the years fly by, you learn the important of accepting. Of late, I've found myself in a tricky spot - figuring out the right balance of ambition and acceptance. I would consider myself an ambitious person. There's a lot I think I can achieve and when I look…
I think that´s the feedback I've gathered over the last 4 months or so. It's been mostly this year that I've been completely independent, working on my own, that I've seen it. I've had some hits in the past. Some of like people around call "the 15 mins of fame". And had some peaks in certain occasions. But nothing…
ahh my imagination has been sparked by a utopian concept by Superstudio. 'The Third City: New York of Brains' is a concept where a cube houses 10,000456 living brains so they can survive humanity's destruction. however i imagine what if humanity is never destroyed? we will be able to go visit this place, it would be…
Crowds are scary when you're in them. I love watching crowds from afar. Trying to track one single person through this swarm is some form of amusement I enjoy. It gives me the same rush as I imagine someone who enjoys doing crosswords would chase. I used to do this with ants too. When I was a kid and banned from…
wake up early // get active // find solitude 4 am // run + lift // movement meditation ——————————————— "We rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope" - Romans 5:3-4
reflect & manifest reverb23 in january adapts the reverb10 event shared about in this post - https://nicheless.blog/post/before-%7C-reverb-in-december-20 "... online initiative to reflect on your year and manifest what’s next ... an opportunity to reflect on what's happened, and to send out reverberations for the year…
I did not expect this one: === anon8858 It’s finally happening. General Rodriguez will make a public appearance for the first time in 2 years. This is the longest time a public official has been outside of the public eye. Last year, the rumors of his death were the top conspiracy theory in the country. These rumors…
Gil Scott-Heron wrote a powerful poem in 1970, and recorded it into a song – ‘The Revolution Will Not Be Televised’, during the Black Power Movement. Link - shorturl.at/begHU Some references used will send us down wonderful rabbit holes. I went down a few myself, and got curious about how a modern-day version would…
ahhhhhh shock! my eyes are opened to a creative AI tool, here is a first though after using the tool: creativity for the general public will soon be more accessible and capable of creating things for people who don't 'mind' what the outcome is as long as it hits their description closely. But what this tool will do is…
I have wanted to pursue a Master's degree for well over a year now. The desire to do so has been all-consuming and if I'm being honest, exhausting. I find myself struggling to write the essays, and more particularly, the infamous statement of purpose. It's not that I can't find purpose. It is that I do not know how to…
i chose this topic because this was the recent one i came across. I really do have a big question as to why the dresses made in the met gala are so not normal and not wearable by the normal people like you and me. If something should be encouraged it should have a meaning behind it i can't see what good does it…
there is something about the nature of the things i seek which makes them hard to find namely that i look for things that are largely unspoken i look for the anti-memes and i am so attuned to this quality that the books i want to read are often difficult to acquire or out of print
I'm terrified of this one word. It's just one word but contains an unknown universe within. A universe that I am part of, that I live in, yet that which I want to get out of. I was born into this realm and I continue to live within this reality. Even death does not seem to be a meaningful escape from this multiverse…
We often sign up for tasks without considering whether we'll be able to show up with full intention. We think about how fun or exciting it'll be to experience something. Soon enough, we begin to wonder - did we even think clearly? The sudden responsibility to be fully present is daunting. But we get baited by the rush…
It all depends on you Never have the slavery mindset You might be smart and be good at your job But what you believed in And your guts to stay true Stay logical and see things through Do not use emotional Don’t count on motivation Use logical Count on discipline As long as you put your effort into ANYTHING Including…
I just watched a great movie about Franz Kafka, a famous German writer. What particularly struck me was the way he used words and language - so precise, so articulate, so aesthetic. There is a lot of untapped potential in our everyday use of language to express our thoughts and feelings.
We don't really know what is actually happening in others peoples lives, lying is so easy, specially when people are far away, you could just not say where or what you are doing and easily fool others. Today, I discovered I was lied to and it just makes me feel uneasy about the other person, kinda lost trust, even if…
ChatGPT, was launched recently. I went through several different emotions as I saw screenshots of its capability posted all over twitter. First I was in awe, then I was in denial trying to find evidence of its failure. Subconsciously, I was trying to convince myself that a human was better and AI will not take over.…
There is a negotiation which I have with myself every time I am presented with an opportunity to get drunk. The decision to get drunk is despite all good sense - it is not a problem of knowledge or understanding. What tilts the balance in favor of the bottle is an innate desire to experience a high like never before -…
