We can't compete with AI
ChatGPT, was launched recently. I went through several different emotions as I saw screenshots of its capability posted all over twitter. First I was in awe, then I was in denial trying to find evidence of its failure. Subconsciously, I was trying to convince myself that a human was better and AI will not take over. But the more I thought about it, I realized, the floodgates have been opened, there is no going back.
We cannot compete with AI, the rate at which it learns and adapt will be fast. It will improve exponentially, now it might be good at churning out generic content but soon it will be capable of producing stuff that has a human touch to it.
And we shouldn't compete with AI, its futile. Much like how doctors of today are much more efficient with cutting edge technological equipment by their side, we as tech workers should get comfortable using AI.
This also brings me to a question - do we really need to work 40 hours a week? You may ask how is this question even related to AI. It is. When technological innovation was introduced in the 20th century, many futuristic thinkers thought we'd work lesser but the opposite happened, we now work longer hours despite having supercomputers in our hands.
With AI entering the mainstream today, there is a lot of talk about AI taking over jobs. I would argue that we ought to work lesser hours. Using AI as a tool, we can cut down on total man hours spent on a task. What if all of us worked just 20 hours a week and produced the same output? Who said every human recruited should work 40+ hours?
What if AI gives us the boon to finally live 'Human' lives?
