Rules
tradition, convention, protocol; these are tools to control and manipulate groups of people. rules are meant to enforce behaviour that is largely not natural. you basically momentarily pretend that you care, but mostly you don't.
it's liberating to be able to live without having to pretend. you pretend to comply, force yourself to do it. not because you believe so, but because that's just how it is. without rules it all falls apart. it's a straightforward concept. greater public good.. yada .. yada. being a rule follower has been a character defining trait for me. used to make me anxious to be around people who didn't respect rules as much. they should've been the ones with anxiety.. after all they would have had to deal with the full force of the law and deal with the consequences etc. but more often than not you're rewarded for the risk you take. i think it teaches you more if you lead the libertarian life. you learn to take responsibility for yourself, not hide behind rules, make excuses out of them, blame them for your failures.
so go forth and reclaim your life. stop pretending that you care. rules, they are for the suckers. the world would be a better place if we all just looked out for ourselves. or would it?
