We don't really know what is actually happening in others peoples lives, lying is so easy, specially when people are far away, you could just not say where or what you are doing and easily fool others. Today, I discovered I was lied to and it just makes me feel uneasy about the other person, kinda lost trust, even if the intention of the lie was good. Honesty and transparency is one of the most important things in a relationship once broken it breaks my heart.
