Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
the most normal taste i have is in music. i'm really into the 1975 right now, but specifically 3 songs: - about you - robber - all i need to hear ("somebody else" is great too but it doesn't fit the vibe of those three songs i just listed that i feel is the best aspect of the band; i basically want to feel like i'm…
We quote Steve Jobs a lot on how we can connect the dots looking backward. To pick and choose parts we remember well to craft a narrative that we call our story, in a way that makes sense. Retrospective parenting is what I call consoling the kid who got hurt years ago. To make sense of the hurt that hasn't healed.…
This is hard to admit, but I've been struggling with reading long form content. Today, I opened an article, and half way through, I put my phone down cos I just couldn't take it. I forced myself to go back and read the rest of it. It's worrying me that my attention is not mine anymore, and there's a bunch of reading I…
I just read Kim Stanley Robinson's The Ministry for the Future, recommended with great enthusiasm by my friend Rahul. In taking his recommendation, I was following my own recent advice https://nicheless.blog/post/135. Unusual for me was that this was a book of science fiction. Nothing against the genre - I just hadn't…
There lived a man in southern Spain He had no penny, no fear, no pain Into an alley he lost his way Ran into gold, saved it for a rainy day Not a day went past, he didn't count it all His friends now few and fears grew tall Looking for more in his alley of gold With nothing to share he grew lonely and old The weight…
How to gain 10 million followers in 6 months? How to earn 10 million dollars in 1 year? Aren't we all in this race to get results instantly? Aren't we guilty of comparing ourselves to others all the time? Your story will always be yours. You can't diminish your sparkle by comparing yourself to others. Because it is a…
I'm terrified of this one word. It's just one word but contains an unknown universe within. A universe that I am part of, that I live in, yet that which I want to get out of. I was born into this realm and I continue to live within this reality. Even death does not seem to be a meaningful escape from this multiverse…
Entropy is randomness, uncertain, confounding. Physics doesn't seem to be random, yet it accounts for entropy. It claims that entropy is a measurable physical property. Life is entropic and not. It is paradoxical and not. It is measurable and not. There is an ardent need for clarity, but our understanding and…
Today I had one of the worst outbursts possible. I screamed like hell at mummy. It’d been brewing since morning. Festival time is always a delicate trigger time for mom. One would need to dig deeper to find out why she’s like that. It seems to stem from some memory she has of being judged by festival days. For me, it…
Last month, I started learning how to make homemade ramen. The goal was simple, make something edible. Now I'm getting pretty good at making ramen. And my interest is starting to peter out. I'm not waking up thinking about where to source local chickens anymore. I'm no longer rifling through amazon for better fridge…
I’m learning to be content with the little things, I’ve spent the last 3 years on a treadmill, chasing after elusive success. Dreaming that maybe just maybe I’ll hit gold, but all the while neglecting the jewels I have here, in my home, just dying for a moment of my attention. I look away from the screen for a second,…
1. music -- sometimes music can be punishing ("public" music...the kind you can't shut off at will) but music is a blessing when i'm doing boat work. i've found that the only type of boat work i can really do and the kind that i sort of enjoy is the kind that requires merely the possession of my body, and that leaves…
Sometimes I feel like I see my grandmother in your eyes. The way the soft lines across your speckled face crinkle when you laugh. How your hair reaches up to the sky like the winding branches of a tree. I think sometimes I see my grandmother in you where she is not. When your eyebrows crease and I can't tell if I had…
Every time I need to tweak something on my work mac, I'm irked by the title of the settings pane. What every computer interface has referred to as "settings", Apple chose to rename "preferences". Settings implies a certain relationship between us and our tools. You set the fuel / air mixture of a carburetor for…
Forever can be broken down to a bunch of nows but can there be multiple nows? No matter how much you conquer you will always be beaten by the last second, the last mile and eventually the last breath. Which begs the question of what you really own. 20 minutes into meditation and i cannot tell whether the arms i’d…
There's few things I like more than a late night. There's few things I enjoy more than time with friends. There's few things I want more than to be someone. There's few things I need more than to stay healthy. There's few things I feel more than a need for money. There's few things I miss more than an adventure.…
have you ever considered that maybe the toxic things you once felt bad about enjoying are the only things that truly nourish you? i am feeling that the life i now have is not really a life worth living; it is for someone but not for me (this must seem insane ; i'm living people's lifelong dreams...and everyone says…
On LinkedIn, I recently wrote a brief response to this FT article by Martin Sandbu: https://www.ft.com/content/6f70bbcd-72b7-4518-be6b-401adba7cc34?s=09. I'm posting a lightly-edited version of my response here: While this discussion is certainly welcome, I find it somewhat one-sided, given it comes from the side of…
In a society of plenty and where civic infrastructure and day to day survival is not a challenge, we often see a culture of doing good deeds and regularly paying those good deeds forward. The reverse is generally the norm where basics are missing. Its a survival of the fittest and everyone is just trying to get…
Every time I move - be it from my study abroad in Cambridge, back to my home in Heidelberg, to my student dorm in Munich - I go through a period of adjustment. It always takes a few days to acclimate to the surroundings. The transition often feels sad when it's time to leave (just like now, standing at the Heidelberg…
A cozinha…
Last week I went down a YouTube rabbithole of credit card optimization. I watched loads of videos of extremely smart people showing off how they maximized their credit card reward rates. Not just smart people – rich smart people. Folks whose time is money. Somehow, each of them determined that spending hours of their…
I ain’t good writing stuff tbh. Hell, can’t even write anything good like shakespear but its the thought that counts :p Music has always been apart of me. From when i was in the womb until now, and maybe in the future. It was my only way of escaping from reality, extinguishing the fiery feeling in my chest after an…
The best mentors are the ones who don't charge for their time. Hear me out. I'm not talking about the ones who make mentoring their main source of income. I'm talking about industry veterans who are passionate about what they do and want to pass on all that they've learned over the years. They've already "made it" and…
I vividly remember my mother's outburst in the summer of 2013 when I ran away from a Bangalore internship within five days of joining. She was angry at my incompetency to stick to a job. She compared me to neighbours who settled in soulless jobs. Her disbelief in my post-graduate design education fueled my own anger.…
Ahh i don't think we will ever see a way permanently remove 'bad' actors from our worlds. one one side of the venn diagram we have the 'good' actor, on the other 'bad' actor, the position intersecting both is our utopia. i question what will it look like...
Austin Kleon has the right idea. His lesson in Steal Like an Artist applies to more than your creative output. It applies to anything you are trying to build. A website A business A new habit What is the first action you take when you delve into something new? You research. From your research, you pull ideas you can…
I never cease to wonder which part of us summons ourselves from the great and long distance of eternity, swim through the foggy, thick, kaleidoscope of our dreams only to wake up and wonder about what we're all doing here. Each night, before bed, my 7yo prepares for her nighttime journeys by choosing from among her…
I'm currently at a wellness hotel with my parents, enjoying fantastic 4-course menus for dinner. The contrast from university canteen food was high, yet by day 3, it's already starting to feel normal. This shows how quickly our reality shapes our perception, with new experiences rapidly becoming our new normal. We…
Trungpa has always really spoken to me. All the themes he touches on are salient to my life — fear and bravery, sadness, loving-kindness, self-hatred. He takes things I believe myself to be good at (being soft, sad, sensitive, honest, open) and says these are what you need to cultivate in order to be free of fear and…
I’ve realized that I have a low tolerance for negativity lately. Both of my parents, especially my dad, tend to be very negative. My mom isn't as much, but she gets influenced by my dad’s constant complaints and negative comments. I was probably influenced by them too. Now that I've spent a lot of time away from home…
made coffee at 2am again not because i needed energy just wanted to feel like the main character for five minutes
The airport, a place where people from all over the world meet, sitting here and looking at the people passing through just makes you wonder what kinds of lifestyles do this people have, their story. Is kinda fun to try to guess and make up stories about it. There are so many possibilities in life, so many different…
I reflected on my Linkedin activity last week on the platform. The immediate response of my friends and their network within the first hour of posting felt good. People found the post amusing! So I of course HAD to post the same jab on twitter, and share a screenshot of the original post on my Instagram story. What…
I have a friend at work who is absolutely convinced that the World Economic Forum is a nefarious organization that is slowly reaching its long tentacles into every conceivable aspect of human life. "The agenda," as he calls it, is the WEF's plan to have us all eat crickets, own nothing, and live in…
Sometimes, we hesitate to uncover why we love certain things, fearing that understanding the reasons might lessen our enjoyment. But in reality, it’s not just about liking that particular thing—it’s about how it connects with our identity. Having “our thing” gives us comfort and a sense of self. Identifying the why…
Woke up at 4 AM to go through PDF of Consumer Behaviour, and later got to know that it was only 1.5 units out of 4. After messaging Bhola to send me the important topics from rest of 2.5 units, I went back to sleep and when her first message came, I woke up and went through the concepts she told me to read once. Then…
Voltei pra minha casa.
One big turn-off about nfts is the amount of focus people have on making money. Now, I'm not going to say that I don't care about money (I do), but money has never been the priority for me (although I will never not be happy making profit). It's almost always community, making connections and learning that have been…
I was thinking whether or not I should write this post. The reason I didn't want to is simply because my opinion on this does not matter at all. The reason I did want to write this is that it can throw some light on my thought process which applies to other things in life. I'd say I'm quite pro-Elon. Simply because…
Sometimes I wonder what kind of life we all are actually living, are we truly happy with ourselves right now or it just a façade to just get by. Sometimes I wonder what we are truly afraid of, is it fear of rejection, fear of alienation by our peers or fear of showing weakness, because for me being vulnerable with…
Yesterday, I was watching my some random reels and one of them I could totally connect to. I feel like I’ve lived my whole life trying to not take up too much space. It’s so liberating to have found vocabulary to describe exactly how you’ve been feeling your entire life. I see it in all parts of my life. Personal and…
We went to school together. We have known each other for twenty plus years. Given your unsocial behaviour, your family is surprised that you have maintained a friendship so old. The only other relationship older than ours is that with your family members. We have literally taken work from home opportunity to our…
Strive for making the hardest decision Even relationships or flirting People don’t expect the easiest answer you know… it’s kinda easy to say the most obvious answer Think twice - and go for the hardest Think of this life: you’re playing the childhood game & suddenly you’re 26/27 Age is just a number. Now you gotta do…
