perception is reality
I'm currently at a wellness hotel with my parents, enjoying fantastic 4-course menus for dinner. The contrast from university canteen food was high, yet by day 3, it's already starting to feel normal. This shows how quickly our reality shapes our perception, with new experiences rapidly becoming our new normal.
We have a baseline happiness that only (from our perception's viewpoint) "special" experiences temporarily elevate before we return to it. This happens regardless of the situation we are in.
Realizing this is oddly comforting - regardless of my decisions or external events, I'll likely maintain this baseline happiness throughout life.
