2. Are you a friend?
We went to school together. We have known each other for twenty plus years. Given your unsocial behaviour, your family is surprised that you have maintained a friendship so old. The only other relationship older than ours is that with your family members.
We have literally taken work from home opportunity to our hometown - we both are in same town again after school. We've begun to appreciate the beauty of living in a small town after leading a busy life for more than a decade in different metropolitan cities. The only thing I miss coming back here is lack of friends. I miss them despite you in the town. Yet you have given excuses (not reasons) to not meet me. We have not met even once in four months of my stay here.
A good friend advised me to keep friends older than seven years closer to heart. They are one of the most treasured assets - it is a result of love. Relationships compound and it gives returns better than money or wealth accumulated.
Though I am complaining, I will still meet you with the same enthusiasm as I have always. I don’t engage you in my talks because I want to forget this episode. I have never been ignored by a friend like this. But friendship means forgiveness at any cost. Someday, we’ll confront it. Let the friendship show us a new side. I’ll cherish us as long as I can.
