Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
I've always had a predilicition for writing. While others had debating & mooting in law school, i had writing. Be it formal boorish academic writing or bouncy ridiculous writing. Nicheless perhaps seems ideal owing to its limited word limit which places less onus on me to produce a grand blog piece with characters, an…
A few days into this exercise of writing daily, I've had a few learnings - I feel most of my decisions that switched things around have been spontaneous. It was the case with taking up this daily writing challenge too. I didn't have topics in mind. I refrain from writing about the things I come across online…
Every some years, a band comes from left field and knocks your socks off. You have no expectation of them, maybe you'd never heard of them before. Leaving aside the bands of my early growing up years, bands or artists that have had that effect on me have included The Talking Heads, The Stone Roses, Nick Cave and the…
How much time do I waste waiting for her to get ready. What more can I do?
Step 7 - While the cooker stuff is happening, you can start on the second component, which is the rice. Boil the water (almost 2 + 2 times the cup of rice added) only with the bay leaf, a cardamom and a clove and a few drops of oil. Add a few leaves of mint. Squeeze a little lemon for a zing. Step 8 - Add the soaked…
There is something strangely tender about being alive at the same time as everything else. About breathing while cities hum, seasons turn, people fall in and out of love, and the world continues without asking how you’re doing. We spend so much time believing we should have arrived somewhere by now. As though there is…
I am trying to listen to my body. I continued to be exhausted today, so I fell asleep, I took breaks, and I said no to things that I could. I also limited time spent on WhatsApp. I think that was really helpful. Additionally, I had tried to limit my interaction with other apps, etc while I work on some stuff. I still…
The graver division in society is not between those who support one side of an ideological position, but between levels of devotion and objectivity to the ideological position. Between LOYALISTS and LEANERS. The loyalists find no wrong in their positions, and those who subscribe to them. If there's any fact, any line…
不要油腻 要瘦! It’s the people who do vs people who don’t If you’re stupid and you’re a doer: you’ll slowly become a more clever doer If you’re smart but you’re a thinker: you’ll slowly be outsmarted by some other people and you’ll feel like not doing more and more It’s the same concept as being interesting, being outshine…
when it feels like it’s not going to work out when you think you’ve exhausted all your options when it feels like the end of the road you have a decision to make keep going or move on but no matter what choice you make you’ve gotta remember this none of it was a waste of energy there’s a lesson in everything you did…
Today was tough. But here I am, staying true to the promise I made to myself – to write and publish something new at least five times a week. Problem is I don't have anything to write about. The goal was to read, learn, and write about the difference between Aetiology vs Teleology. But anxiety had different plans.…
Ainda não sei qual será o caminho que esse blog irá tomar. Quem viver, verá.
A lot of times we made decisions and kinda regret them But that doesn’t mean that we’re making the wrong decisions A lot of the time I was anxious, feeling not like myself because of money I was an avoidant I didn’t want to embrace my feelings But take all that emotions in And learn how to deal with pain That’ll bring…
I've lived my life on high ambition. In school it was about getting the highest marks, or winning the competitions I enrolled in. Slowly it turned to having a great career, becoming the best person I could be etc. But recently, I've been disillusioned by this approach. Don't get me wrong. Greatness is... great. It's…
Until recently, the idea of relapsing never crossed my mind, and I used to dismiss it as an exaggeration. In my judgmental mindset, I couldn't understand why people couldn't just change for good if they truly wanted to. However, my perspective took a significant turn just a week ago. As I mentioned earlier, I embarked…
Live every moment bits of it Do not miss Not through the phone Live through everything Be young & fun & experiencing Do what you want to do by actually doing not “avoiding” on phone Be fun - AND ENERGETIC! Only difference between the young soul and the old soul is the energy levels
Unusual Experiences: hallucinations, magical thinking, perceptual aberrations, intuitions, etc. Related to psychosis. I was an uptight child, and I grew into an uptight adult. There is a famous baby picture of me that never ceases to get a response: how can a child be this serious? It turns out it was and remained an…
I subjected myself to another thought experiment yesterday (12th September) to try and figure out if i could break down and understand how and why I feel a certain way. I purposefully sat down to think through and break down my issues with his past and try to figure out why it hurt me or why I did not like the fact…
I picture existence as a film reel with infinite frames. All big bangs, everything that was and everything that will be, are captured on those frames. One flawless complete existence, Nature. Nature is intelligent and curious. It wants to know itself and experience every frame of that film, which is it. How does…
There’s one simple rule for beginning journalers about what time to journal every day. Journal at the same time every day. You are building a habit. You want to be consistent. The time you choose to journal dictates your consistency. Consider these three factors when choosing your time. Your typical day: Is there a…
A universal aspect of any given human culture is the accepted method by which disputes and disagreements between individuals are resolved. Some methods that have been considered acceptable at various times in various places include (a) engaging in violent physical combat, (b) challenging one's enemy to a shooting…
There is a lie embedded in the 'architecture of guilt', a lie so elegant it disguises itself as virtue. It says: you must earn your way back. That before you may begin again, you must first account for the wreckage, perform contrition, and prove that you are sorry. Only then, once the debt is settled, once the penance…
I love doing team sports, there is this feeling of belonging and collaboration that is just in a way refreshing. Going to the gym is nice sometimes, cause you learn discipline and resistance, but having people that are accountable pushes me to be better and go further from my limit. Both have its own benefits, but…
Something as simple as a hot shower can be so many things at the same time: a moment to reflect, a moment where ideas pop, a moment to rewind, a moment to be peaceful with yourself, a moment to share with your loved one (?), a moment to feel the hot water rinsing your skin, a moment to feel refreshed, a moment where…
Have you had a distant relative of yours who came to you and asked, 'Oh, you have changed so much,' only to realize later that you are not the person they thought you were? Apart from the personality changes we experience in our lives, which we often refer to as phases resulting from significant life events, the truth…
Alternate title: Plan ahead to stand a chance against the monkey mind. The whole premise of this post is this. You're going to talk yourself out of many things that you need or have to do. For situations like that you should have a plan beforehand and systems in place. The most recent example I can give is me going to…
Emotionally-charged, moralizing content wins the virality lottery most often: - For each "moral-emotional word" used, content receives between 17-24% more engagement. - Moral anger and disgust increase virality across the political spectrum. - Content that’s written in more divisive, inflammatory language is…
It's rarely as bad as you build it up to be. If you have to do more, you'll take it one step at a time. Your dad may NOT have been wanting to tell you about your mother's heart attack. All you can control is how you feel and what you do. 0856
An alien spaceship lands on Earth. After several failed attempts to communicate, the first contact team's linguist, Louise Banks, brings a whiteboard to the next encounter. She writes "HUMAN" on the whiteboard. The aliens finally respond by projecting strange circular symbols into the air. Afterwards... COLONEL WEBER:…
I. Humans began their story on this Earth as brutish, violent, tribal knuckle-draggers, barely distinguishable from their ape relatives. Over thousands of years of gradual genetic and cultural evolution, humanity has marched through history to achieve progressively more peaceful and prosperous societies. We're slowly…
Retirei-me daqui porque as coisas não andaram fáceis emocionalmente.
Week two of the new routine and its going pretty well, but there are a number of hangups that I am having trouble with. The first thing is that I had a cigar last night and ended up staying up until 1AM which pushed my wake up to 8:30AM, which in turn, pushed everything else out. I have yet to do my piano and Spanish…
Yesterday I‘ve finished a first draft of my thesis. Today I spent the day fine-tuning it. Once again I noticed how much more I like the process of bringing something from 50 to 100 percent, vs. starting from scratch and creating a first version. I am definitely better at perfecting, fine-tuning and finishing. If I…
Masculine powers vs Feminine powers Is just a natural attraction energies It’s not your job to make people “attracted” to your energies Each person is finding that partner that can succumb to their energies levels Live your best 20s Work on your personality The time to be the best extreme at everything is now Taken a…
Sometimes, I find myself self-critical over my apparent lack of focus, worrying that my broad range of interests doesn't get me anywhere. "Business Idea Factory" by Andrii Sedniev has helped me see the value in my widespread curiosity. The book highlights that exposure to diverse experiences is not just beneficial but…
What will forever haunt me about the Tyre Nichols murder is that he was calling for his mother during the last moments he was beaten to death. For all intents and purposes he died scared and alone, with no one to hold is hand and tell him he is loved. I know exactly what it's like to be alone, in the dark, scared, and…
Do you know what is the most common definition of nature? "Nature is the phenomena of the physical world collectively, including plants, animals, the landscape, and other features and products of the earth, as opposed to humans or human creations." A very egoistic and relative definition if you ask me. How about…
For the longest time, whenever I would be asked, "where do you see yourself in 5 years?", my mind would stray away. The beauty of human imagination is that it is unrestricted. A thought is swift enough to traverse wide enough. I would wonder if it is a luxury car, a big house, frequent travelling, ability to lay my…
Instead of a small cramped cage, Bruce Alexander constructed a 200-square-foot housing colony for his rats. Into this space, which was heated just right, were placed delicious cedar shavings and all manner of bright balls and wheels. There was ample space for mating, space for birthing, room to roam, and warm nests…
Childhood is a magical time. As a parent, I feel pressure to preserve this sanctity for my own children. Of course I could be wrong but I’ve noticed a trend: if there are at least two children in a family, there are two archetypes: a favorite and a performer. The favorite in the family was the one that was, knowingly…
I guess having a stream of thought is a lot like a thread. It can break once it becomes too long. Which is easy when sentences are stuffed with filler words and excessive adjectives. Spelling errors galore. Reading back with proof reading eyes feels like a draughting task. Many essays and thoughts abandon before they…
Shephards pie with chicken mince, mini pomfrets on a bed of buttered spinach, pasta with a medley of ''english'' vegetables in a tomato sauce. Green salad with a generous topping of feta. Of course, some very garlicky bread. For dessert a christmas plum cake with fresh cherries in a custard. Topped off with a bottle…
My mom has found a unique way of pranking me. She'll throw a random but believable assertion related to my life (or so I think). Consequently, my inquisitive trait kicks in, trying to trace the reasons and origins of it. The ordeal ends by her revealing the farce behind her statement and how it revealed my deep-rooted…
The paradox of life is, It gives, the lightness of joy and the burden of pain; and takes,so we may learn the worth of what was given. Every gift of joy or burden of sorrow, arrives with the promise of its leaving. And though we may celebrate or grieve its passing, It was never meant to be kept....only experienced. Time…
It goes without saying that everything we do, there's reason why we do it. But recently, I'm thinking if I'm doing A, and not doing B, it's not that I have a reason to do A and no reason to do B. This assumes I've thought clearly about what to do and what not to do. But that's wrong. Maybe I haven't given it enough…
Not really sure how this goes, but I do like the 300 word cap. Halloween was last night and it's always fun to see the kids all dressed up. I'm more of a dress up parent. It feels inauthentic to be walking around on Oct. 31 in your regular people clothes. It's like a no judgement / everyone accepted day. More men opt…
