Overcoming the Fear of Relapse - 1/2
Until recently, the idea of relapsing never crossed my mind, and I used to dismiss it as an exaggeration. In my judgmental mindset, I couldn't understand why people couldn't just change for good if they truly wanted to. However, my perspective took a significant turn just a week ago.
As I mentioned earlier, I embarked on a journey to become a better version of myself, aiming to eliminate two main habits: excessive fapping and occasional cigar smoking. While cigars didn't pose a significant addiction, fapping had become a deeply ingrained habit for me. Overcoming these challenges proved difficult, and it significantly affected my interactions with others, as well as how I perceived things around me. Despite my attempts to educate myself on the matter, I couldn't fully grasp the struggle until this very moment.
During this period, I decided to distance myself from Instagram and other distractions. Surprisingly, the experience was incredibly refreshing and enlightening. However, the fear of relapsing loomed over me. I truly didn't want to go back to the lazy and harmful routines of the past.
To be honest, shortly after publishing the blog, I faced a relapse. I felt deeply disappointed in myself as my confidence plummeted. But, my determination didn't waver. Over the weekend, my friends motivated me to step out of my room, socialize, and engage in new experiences. These activities took my mind off the temptation, and gradually, I started feeling better and more in control.
