I was an uptight child, and I grew into an uptight adult. There is a famous baby picture of me that never ceases to get a response: how can a child be this serious?

It turns out it was and remained an attempt to drown out my unusual experiences. I tried to be a boring technologist. I tried to get into data. I pretended to love science. It didn’t work. I’m handling intuition now, I’m embracing religion. Reading tarot cards. Learning to dance. Writing music. Playing out movies in my mind. Accepting that I’m safe now, so I can go down all sorts of magical roads and return to planet earth unscathed. 👨🏼‍🚀
