widespread curiosity
Sometimes, I find myself self-critical over my apparent lack of focus, worrying that my broad range of interests doesn't get me anywhere.
"Business Idea Factory" by Andrii Sedniev has helped me see the value in my widespread curiosity.
The book highlights that exposure to diverse experiences is not just beneficial but essential for creative thinking. It argues that ideas are merely combinations of other ideas, and the more varied one's experiences, the more unique these combinations can be. History's greatest thinkers didn't limit themselves; they soaked up every new experience, traveled, met new people, tried different hobbies, and consumed a wealth of knowledge across multiple domains. They understood that each new experience added to their cognitive repertoire - making it easier for them to quickly find their way around a wide variety of complex environments and also increasing their chances of stumbling upon breakthrough ideas.
This has helped shift my perspective. While deep focus is crucial, so are periods of wild exploration.
Now, I see my widespread curiosity as a powerful asset.
