Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
It frustrates me to watch debates that descend into whataboutery. And if images speak louder than words, I hope the one above manages to drown out a bunch of pointless arguments. Whataboutery is a tactic used by people who know exactly what they're doing – intentionally distorting the public's perception of reality.…
Creativity is such a strange bedfellow. It warms you, sometimes. It guides you, sometimes. It frustrates you, sometimes. It refuses to leave, always. There are plenty of days when I wish that my creativity would take all these disparate parts and bring them together into a cohesive whole. Instead, creativity somehow…
We waste too much time waiting. We wait for the clock to strike the perfect 9 AM, 10 AM, 2.30 PM, or 11 PM to resume work after a break. We'll scroll through a few more reels if there are 3 minutes to 5.30 PM. I used to do that while studying. I would arbitrarily take a break and then resume at half past something.…
One of the best parts about my time in university was the people I met. Even though we were all very different people and quite literally, came from different places, I feel we were on a similar wavelength. We cared about similar things and as we discussed our varying points of view, we moved forward and deeper…

It’s been an illuminating and fun journey. Now at 613, I’m taking a 2-week break. That’s 613 atomic essays written and published since June 2021. I wrote and published daily until essay 500. Then I started taking the weekends off. In addition to essays, I’ve developed a journaling habit. Daily gratitude followed by 20…
Information is collected, aggregated, examined and assimilated into knowledge over time. The skill of using knowledge to make decisions that advance one's objectives in the world, together with the knowledge of which objectives are worthy of pursuit, is wisdom. Content, in contrast, is a different beast. Unlike…
What is existence but a search for answers that never quite come. Existence reflects patterns. Patterns that one must recognize in order to survive. What if... the internal discomfort of specific patterns exists for a reason? What if... the shaming of pattern-recognition is coordinated for the sake of mental…
“But the wise ones took flasks of olive oil with their lamps.” Matthew 25.4 NET. Preparation is key. The Day will come unexpectedly. The New Testament tells us how to be ready. MORE: Jesus said preparation is the deciding factor between those who will enter the Kingdom of heaven and those who won’t. That is why the…
It's crazy how effortlessly our perceptions shift and how quickly we adapt to new circumstances, seamlessly readjusting our sense of "normal." Our readiness to adjust so swiftly demonstrates our remarkable ability to thrive, no matter the circumstances.
Never do the perfect job - you're not paid to do the perfect job. Do a good job. Put 80% of your time focusing on how to land a good job. 20% to do your development, research on yourself, your colleagues, your partners and your future growth.
Twitter is terrible, as are all other algorithmic feed social networks. I want the fun of early twitter and livejournal back.
In every job, there is a toughness and a hardness (difficulty) - everything has a level for you to attain; not everything is easy. In every job. Even if you’re not in the dream job yet you cannot lose your identity. You have to fight hard and do your best in every situation - earn as much, or learn as much: and do…
"Finish something. Anything. Stop researching, planning, and preparing to do the work and just do the work. It doesn’t matter how good or how bad it is. You don’t need to set the world on fire with your first try. You just need to prove to yourself that you have what it takes to produce something. There are no…
You don’t meet “new friends” by actually meeting new international friends You gotta be interesting enough And that means not afraid to speak up to anyone Let yourself be yourself be in your skins Do whatever you do in the moment And work on things Can’t be empty headed anymore Enjoy every moment and taking everything…
Storytelling is one of the oldest pastimes. Growing up you look forward to hearing stories from your parents or grandparents. Once we grow up, we enjoy stories through various mediums like books, movies, TV shows, oral accounts, news, etc. This led me to think, what is the best way to experience a story? What would…
Walking the streets of CBD by those towering buildings, cycling along ECP, trekking to Bukit Timah and sipping on beer at the hawker centres, I thought about you for the first time in ages. I lost you when I was 9. Ever since, subconsciously and actively, I hived away whatever few memories I had of you and pushed you…
My friend Rahul and I recently exchanged messages praising the 1977 Fleetwood Mac album Rumours, particularly Lindsey Buckingham's gorgeous guitar in Never Going Back Again. Which reminded me of how I started building my CD collection. It was 1989 and I'd just arrived in New York as a student with no cash to spare. I…
From the book "The Business Idea Factory" by Andrii Sedniev: "There is a direct correlation between quantity and quality of ideas. The majority of ideas that the best ideas creators generate are bad, some of them are average and very few are genius. These few genius ideas make the best creators enormously…
Excerpt from the 2015 Ursula K. Le Guin Vogue interview. Interviewer: Abby Aguirre ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ In response to Le Guin‘s 2014 national book award remarks; ‚We’ll need writers who can remember freedom. [...] We need writers who know the difference between production of a market commodity and the practice of an art,‘…
I understand they happen to be there because it's cheaper and simpler, but what a tasteless and generic place to put them. Lighting can be beautiful if you set the sources gracefully. Indirect lighting can make a magic atmosphere and functional lightning can be a great tool depending on your goals. But "one light bulb…
It's the decisions that you made right? No matter consciously or subconsciouly - you put the water in the kettle for it to boil. You get back to your workstation and continue to work while waiting for the water to boil. Once the water is boiled: - You travel to the kettle and took the kettle and get back to your…
Last month, my partner broke up with me in a park, holding a party bag I was foolish enough to think was a gift. It had all the clothes, books and other things I had lent them, and I was astounded that I, suddenly, didn't care for any of them. I didn't want them back. Soft and stupid reminders. The time passed…
"Use a picture. It's worth a thousand words." - Arthur Brisbane, at the Syracuse Advertising Men's Club in 1911. You've heard this phrase as, "a picture is worth a thousand words". Pictures can be used to enhance the journal visually. When writing your thoughts, you must use words. It's not necessary to write long…
I felt energetic today. I went to office and distracted myself with work. Felt like I can be doing more work and that I am not doing my role justice. FOMO max. I had a bit of spotting. Spent a few hours feeling nervous because doctor suggested I do a scan tomorrow. I spent some time doing a puzzle which always relaxes…
i remember going to war once. the air smelled of burnt flowers and chemical dreams. the ghosts of my past made a mountain of bodies besides a wrecked house. inside, my mother was wiping off her tears as she made my favorite breakfast. father was dreaming of his aged self. you're on your own, soldier. just a few more…
What inspires change? Knowledge Fear Hope Knowledge inspires change by opening our eyes to what is, what could be, and what is likely to be. We can then imagine what it might look and feel like to play out those scenarios. Knowledge usually sparks either fear or hope. Maybe you can’t have one without the other? Both…
i used to think that i am a programmer. i have friends who think they are programmers or designers or editors or traders etc, and i don't think that's a great way to describe yourself. i think a better way to describe yourself is to say that you are a problem solver, and i don't mean go be an entrepreneur, just think…
tonight i wasn't sure what to do i've been cycling between reading & writing, and i forgot about music im back to listenin to rap did you know rap was invented in the 1970s? i can't imagine a world before rap what else is waiting to be invented? i've been reading my other blog tonight it is so good i was like damn…
There's few things I like more than a late night. There's few things I enjoy more than time with friends. There's few things I want more than to be someone. There's few things I need more than to stay healthy. There's few things I feel more than a need for money. There's few things I miss more than an adventure.…
new year's resolution = goal focused resolution new year's evolution = growth in all areas of life one of my biggest / most challenging goals for 2023 is going to be 0 alcohol the level up will be insane and sobriety will be a nice change.
I came across an article on HN about making the interviewee read code instead of writing it. Many people really like this approach. As someone who is often on the other side of the hiring side, my thoughts about it would be: The sample should use the code stack I will be interacting with – languages, technologies,…
What does a businessman or an entrepreneur do? If one is to take up the definition in trend, a person who identifies problems, make and sells solutions to people, and risk whatever he has in that pursuit is called a businessman or entrepreneur. Who else risk it all in pursuit of something? A stupid person. So to…
Stop telling people to play tennis with a bat If we’re playing tennis, and I say I’d rather play baseball, you’d think I was insane if I brought out a bat and starting trying to whack the ball out of the court. Same argument applies here: - “He thinks taxes on the rich should be higher, but he paid zero tax last year.…
Louis Pereira's perceptive post on not trusting intuition reminded me of something. (https://nicheless.blog/post/disregarding-intuition) A dear friend once told me that when someone close - friend, family, colleague - says to him: "read that book, its just your type of writing," or "think about taking up tango…
You might be able to sum up the dharma with “comparison is the thief of joy”. Just expand the comparison to not be versus other people, but versus anything and everything. Your food fell on the floor, and it’s made you sad? Now you’re comparing having the candy versus not having the candy. Let go of it. You stubbed…

Maybe there’s more way to go about it. Why I feel anxious when something is not going my way - is because I was not used to acting or behaving this way. Too much of my own comfort zone. So to not feel anxious - be comfortable in feeling uncomfortable. Know that you’ll fail no matter what in the first place and it’s…
It’s true - believe in the power of attraction Who you mix with take the average of 5 and it’ll become you E - said he’s becoming less ambitious Which is true I think it’s because he’s been working from home Read books and know people That will inflame your fire Like how you mix with G And know Y&and her dad. These…
As a fellow degen, I've done my fair share of discord grinding. Most times, it almost feels like a job. In the rarer (and best) cases, it feels natural and becomes like a virtual third place. The problem is if you want to be a degen, you have to continue grinding in other discords to get those other WL opportunities.…
More often than not we find ourselves doing things, either at the influence of the parents, society or the people around us unknowingly, almost in a mechanical trance but something clicks and we start questioning the act itself. Makes one wonder, are we consciously doing what we are supposed to do or are we binded by…
there are pleasures for which there SHOULD be some guilt involved for example: physical books used to be trees. reading books is technically a guilty pleasure if you really care about that kind of stuff, like, killing wildlife and stuff when you really think about it, almost every aspect of "modern" life becomes…
