#103: Stupid Businessman
What does a businessman or an entrepreneur do? If one is to take up the definition in trend, a person who identifies problems, make and sells solutions to people, and risk whatever he has in that pursuit is called a businessman or entrepreneur.
Who else risk it all in pursuit of something? A stupid person. So to equate both the statement;
Businessman/ Entrepreneur = Stupid
But people who start something of their own are often termed as genius. Then why are there two definitions of one activity just because one context glorifies it and other makes it look absurd?
I got my answer in one of the essays written by Psyche titled: Why some of the smartest people can be so very stupid?
How I interpreted the piece is - people who are selectively stupid know where and how to use brain. Anything they don't value makes them stupid in that area.
If you've heard, the most celebrated trait of a businessman or entrepreneur is their hacking mindset or business acumen. It can be in terms of GTM, Growth or creating business systems (not the cyber one).
Businessmen are not afraid of doing anything stupid in order to grow their business. Thus, making them selectively stupid. When it comes to risks, they know how much can they afford.
As it turns out, a person is stupid or genius based on the outcome he gets.
If the bet turns out to be in favour, it's ingenious, otherwise stupid.
