when they zig, you zag
As a fellow degen, I've done my fair share of discord grinding.
Most times, it almost feels like a job. In the rarer (and best) cases, it feels natural and becomes like a virtual third place.
The problem is if you want to be a degen, you have to continue grinding in other discords to get those other WL opportunities.
Sadly, when I'm also trying to contribute at Station full-time, publish my writing and "grow" my personal brand, keep up with all of the other nft projects out there, it becomes really hard to justify chatting with random people in the hopes of getting WL (and mostly doesn't help me in any of my current goals).
But from my time on tech Twitter, I've learned that there's almost another way to "hack" the system and bypass it.
In my previous web2 life, I would make a personal pitch deck and send it directly to the hiring manager's email address instead of applying to random Linkedin Jobs with a bland CV and pray that I get seen by the algorithm.
So what's the equivalent of doing this, but for WL grinding?
And the answer is simple. Provide value to the team, and they will provide value back. And I think the approach is less "I should do this to get WL", but more "I want to do this and if I get WL even better".
Which is why, I think I should just push myself to do research and write more thoughtful threads on these projects. Not only does it blend into my time of "building my personal brand", but I also get to provide value to readers and projects as well through exposure.
Just remember, when the meta zigs, find a way to zag.
