A sense of movement
What inspires change?
Knowledge
Fear
Hope
Knowledge inspires change by opening our eyes to what is, what could be, and what is likely to be. We can then imagine what it might look and feel like to play out those scenarios.
Knowledge usually sparks either fear or hope.
Maybe you can’t have one without the other?
Both inspire change in order to avoid suffering.
But which is more likely to bring about lasting change in our lives?
Am I more motivated by fear or hope?
I’d like to think that I’m more inspired by hope, but I think that it is often just masking an underlying fear.
Hope is a mask for our fears.
It allows us to move forward in spite of whatever we may be afraid of. The key thing is to move.
Hope can become a shelter from taking action.
Fear can paralyze us, but hope can give the false sense of movement.
I think that I fear living with a sense of movement rather than actually taking action towards something meaningful.
Stay busy.
Find distractions.
Don’t let quiet or reflection linger too long.
Look at everyone else.
We’re all doing the same thing.
