Comparison is the thief of joy => dharma
You might be able to sum up the dharma with “comparison is the thief of joy”. Just expand the comparison to not be versus other people, but versus anything and everything.
Your food fell on the floor, and it’s made you sad? Now you’re comparing having the candy versus not having the candy. Let go of it.
You stubbed your toe and it hurts? Sure, there’s pain there, but if you stop comparing the world-with-pain to the imaginal world-without-pain, then it’ll be much lesser.
And at some point, maybe you’ll realize your self-conception exists solely to let you compare it to other things. And when you see through that, you can let it go.
