Beacons to find each other
One of the best parts about my time in university was the people I met. Even though we were all very different people and quite literally, came from different places, I feel we were on a similar wavelength. We cared about similar things and as we discussed our varying points of view, we moved forward and deeper towards understanding those things. Over the 3 years in university, and the many years that followed, this has and continues to be a wonderful experience.
I've being thinking about how I can reproduce that experience and get more of it, but with a different set of people.
I could always go back to another university, but I believe that there has to be a better way. University just puts a bunch people together so it's easy to find each other. The process works, but I feel it takes up too many resources for the outcome aka inefficient.
As we're moving to a digital world, which allows people from anywhere to connect, writing about one's idea is probably the best way to share them. And sharing ideas is important as it can help bring people together. You can extend this all the way to creation of new countries, a new topic I've been very interested in, but will avoid diving into here.
For me each post like this, is like a light beacon, trying to attract someone.
However, the biggest challenge I face is placing these beacons in the right place so as to increase the chances of it being discovered. Social media, which is probably the best bet, is really noisy (don't get me started about Linkedin) and I don't think it was designed for this.
So until I find a better solution, you'll find all my beacons here.
