Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
These throughlines are my five paired strengths - CliftonStrengths and VIA character - serving my five areas of focus, interest, roles - https://nicheless.blog/post/now-%7C-areas-of-focus-interest-roles joy & service . ACTIVATOR + KINDNESS for others and for self health & physical . ARRANGER + GRATITUDE for…
Last month, I started learning how to make homemade ramen. The goal was simple, make something edible. Now I'm getting pretty good at making ramen. And my interest is starting to peter out. I'm not waking up thinking about where to source local chickens anymore. I'm no longer rifling through amazon for better fridge…
i'm editing some stuff that i wrote a long time ago while getting "hydrated" before my run (i heard it's important) and it is so whiny and depressing and i feel so bad for myself but i also think i had zero self-awareness i said things like "i'm attracted to brutes" and it's like, name ONE fucking brute you've ever…
i'm looking for something i realized that i write to solve my problems and find clarity but since my problem is quite large now, i'm gathering much concentration and this is all i think about. i've been asking all my friends. i'm trying to solve something that no one has ever solved. but if the answer is out there,…
To honor your mother and father is not to obey what they say, to honor your mother and father is to respect them.
sometimes i think about trees and it makes me cry. then i think about why we cry. imagine if the universe gave us no tears. i don't want to throw the same old rule of symmetry in your face. but i think the universe gave us tears so that we could express our overwhelm. the true sign of love isn't belonging, it's…
Yesterday in a class on human breast milk we discussed how it is considered a living tissue by some, because the breast milk contains living cells too. Many of these cells come from the gut associated lymphoid tissue(GALT), is what one of our professors said. And surely that led me to the next possible question, what…
My life has been rough lately. I am stressed, sleep-deprived, and unable to function well. This year is my second attempt at applying to grad school programs, and the journey has been anything but easy. I have to keep retaking the GRE, write multiple essays (even just for one school!), and conduct original…
Today was tough. But here I am, staying true to the promise I made to myself – to write and publish something new at least five times a week. Problem is I don't have anything to write about. The goal was to read, learn, and write about the difference between Aetiology vs Teleology. But anxiety had different plans.…
Hi, I’ve received my blissclub offer. Congratulations to me. Unfortunately, it has only served to make me ridiculously anxious and nervous about the decision. However, I have realised. You will always start out being bad at something. And then as you put more time, you’ll get better at it. You might even begin…
When people talk about migrants’ rights, they're not typically talking about people like me, nor should they be. I'm extraordinarily lucky in life. But it seems the sorts of surmountable, administrative issues I face stack up into a major sense of otherness, an elseness, wherever one goes. People like to believe that…
This will likely happen many times over. I'm not necessarily building towards something, which makes this pseudo-habit hard to complete. Which brings up an interesting thought for me: am I conditioned to do things if and only if it leads or builds towards something? I definitely have this mindset these days. While not…
6. talk to the trees. their plant matter is tens of thousands of years old and harbors a wisdom that often goes unnoticed. seek out the hidden messages in the sound of their rustling leaves and the intricate patterns of their bark. hold hands with their branches and allow their roots to help ground you. 7. in moments…
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the premiere for ‘Ola: Health is Everything,’ my first feature documentary. I remember that night at the Hawai‘i International Film Festival vividly; the sold out theater, the crush of the crowd after the credits rolled, the inescapable feeling that lightning had struck. It’s…
Ahhhh observe the noise; some tell stories, others reveal secrets. observe the colours; some convey intent, others reveal emotions. when combined you a character emerges, who are they...
It’s kinda a different feeling living without social media. It wouldn’t be this way if I hadn’t tried it for years. All my adult life was spent before a screen waiting for approval. Now I just sit in front of it.
Managing money is hard for a couple of reasons. Firstly, most of us don't understand what money is and how it works. We don't really understand why pieces of paper have value - many of us still think it's backed by gold. We also don't understand why a random piece of metal aka gold is so precious. We don't understand…
Is beauty an end? In a sense, yes. Pure beauty offers no new information; it resonates with what we already know, this is why we find it beautiful. Beauty refines our neuroverse-based abstract model, sharpening our understanding, in an infinite quest for micro-optimising the model, but eventually leading to stasis.…
Not really sure what to write here. Just checking this website out. I'm thinking of using this more if I find it fancy, as I don't really have the habit of writing and I'm sort of thinking about getting into it. Peace out.
I tossed out an essay ready to publish. It was no better or worse than my usual essays. It may have even drawn a few more likes and comments than usual. The topic was wrong for me. The essay was negative. I decided my writing I publish needs to focus on the positive. I don’t have time for negativity. Every day I write…
Here's one from yesterday: === anon6232 Is anyone else annoyed at Dr. Caleb attending the Arts Symposium at Ensenada La Nueva? It seems to me this symposium looks to capitalize on the 'expat' artists who relocated to this region. These 'expats' are consuming local artists' opportunities, and Dr. Caleb's presence will…
last night i slept worse than i have in months. i mean i’ve been sleeping like shit since we landed on this rock but last night the pain just took over me. the night before, i snuck out on my own to see if I could figure out what the orb was composed of. i thought, if i could just get close enough to chip off a shard…
There's a very popular line in the web series "Kota Factory" which basically says that the preparation for the IIT-JEE examination shatters the confidence of students who don't clear the exams. I have been in that situation over 3 years ago. I now have a college degree in Management and have been at the top 10% of my…
is that bad? i want him to read marie calloway bc i think he could really relate and really love it and it'll convince him to live the life that i want for him [i see him as the robert to my patti smith, the edie sedgwick to my andy warhol, and the andy warhol to my edie sedgwick] whenever i'm around him or recall our…
I miss reading. It's been a while. It's hard to find time to start, and hard to stop recalling other things now in the middle of it, once I do. I miss learning things, the traditional, institutional way, ha. As in, at school, with books and teachers and papers. The constant input and feedback, the focus on you, when…
One thing I hope to use this medium for is getting the phone out of my hand so much. Do. Do. Do. That's what I want. To do. But instead, I scroll. Incessantly. For some reason I feel like something miraculous is just around the next flip of the thumb. Sometimes, yes, something interesting does come up, but rarely is…
I recently saw a photo on LinkedIn of someone I met a few years ago. I felt an unexpected resistance to respond, that moment sparked a deeper thought. At any stage of life, you hold a certain view of yourself and often assume that others see you the same way. I call this a self-image snapshot: a frozen perception of…
Grammar is not the enemy of creativity—it’s the architecture that makes meaning possible. Beneath every sentence, every idea we attempt to share, grammar shapes the invisible scaffolding of thought. It teaches us how language works, not as mere ornament, but as structure. Without grammar, our words collapse under…
Ahhh my moment of peak conscious occurs frequently before my eyes fall asleep. at that moment there is a choice; do i record that moment/idea or loose it...
I am starting a new writing journey of writing everyday for the next 30 days. I will write on musings of my mind, which I think will broadly involve topics on parenting, recent books I read, design flow, on tax and work. The idea is to write what ever I can think of; letting my mind playout and think clearly on the…
I have no feeling for the rain, except that I enjoy it, and that I also enjoy people's derision, disgust and disdain for it. Today I have spent the entire day indoors, while it pitter-patters outside, ranging from light pittering to tremendous pattering, enough to shake my windows and scare mighty, bulky, mammoth…
Despite my scientific background, education, and critical thinking skills — I am extremely superstitious. I am not religious. I love the contrarian viewpoint. I am able to think for myself. Yet I am incredibly superstitious. It is primarily because of witnessing too many improbable events. In healthcare, some of the…
You can know everything there is to know about a subject, but without credibility, no one will listen to what you have to say. Understanding that credibility in most fields is demonstrated through group affiliations, not IQ points, can help you present the truth in the best light, without fabricating it. In the 4-Hour…
What is Life? if we were to die one day, And what is Life? if we're gonna live forever.
Is knowing that whatever you do is truly your own fault and accountability Whatever your life will turn out to be is purely based on you and you ONLY 保持清醒 Your own decisions to do whatever is purely based on you Just take a simple example You could’ve been early so manny times That nobody forces you to be late But…
I don't usually think of my personal life in quarters; that's typically reserved for work life. But the quarter is a useful amount of time for making progress on personal goals. Today is the final day of the first quarter of this year. It's a time of reflection for me. Have I made progress? Am I off-course? A small…
Louis Pereira, Nicheless founder, wrote recently that we shouldn't over-congratulate ourselves on our choices because they are shaped by the people we happen to spend time with. I agree, but the influence of chance on our choices goes well beyond the company we keep. I was idling in London after graduating from law…
What if what I thought was wrong My perspective aren’t the right one The thought process is not the strongest one How do I forge it within myself To have intelligence I need to be hardworking and keep thinking on it Work on the details Been too lazy to think And that becomes a habit Even the type of bikes, the roads,…
Is it alright to have sad feelings if they seem cliché? Is it okay to struggle with the same simple universal problems over and over for decades? I learn new facts every day but I won't learn anything about myself until I'm terrified of dying and fading away forever.
My first thought here was ok.. let's see what's up. After reading a few blogs I wonder if there are any humans around here. It looks nice on the surface and feels cool under ground. I wonder ...There must be something out here, limits are everywhere so let's find mine, was wondering my self. In the end it's only 10…
For two years in mid-1970s Srinagar, I'd walk down the lane where we lived, cross Maulana Azad Road and traverse the Polo Ground, a vast expanse to my 7 year-old self. Then, crossing Residency Road, I'd make my way down the Bund to Grindlays Ghat, named after the eponymous British bank and housed in a colonial era…
I'm discovering that when hardship strikes, it's tempting to wallow in self-doubt, but it’s more rewarding to put in the effort to prevail. Don't get me wrong, feelings are important but in the long run if your feelings keep you stagnant - then it's time to activate your will and fight for the outcomes you truly…
3. writing -- i have so many things to say and no one to say them to, so i write. i say i have no one to talk to not because i literally have no friends or acquaintances but because when talking, one needs to consider the interests of one's conversation partner, and it is exhausting to limit oneself to topics which…
ahhhhhh a reoccurring shape i use in creation is a sphere. why do i use it? the reason derives from a quote by Andrea Branzi "the distance between the natural world and artificial world no longer exists today, because the latter has become second nature". this quote resonates with me, i exists both naturally and…
Indians have fell in love with historical fiction. Not the one where fiction incorporates historical elements but the one where fiction is served up as history. And we gobble it all up as reality and consider ourselves smarter for having done so. It's a selective exercise in being a highbrow audience & a demonstration…
Where I'm from, asking your waiter about the ingredients in a dish usually prompts one of two responses: 1) "You can't have this, this, or this. But this and this are safe to eat." 2) "Uh, I'll ask the kitchen and get back to you." While visiting London, I was really surprised that the near universal response was…
Do you dream of being a daily journaler? You may have the first two steps mastered, leaving just one more action to make your dream come true. Five years ago, I took on a job that required me to up my task management. I turned to Bullet Journaling. Each morning, I listed tasks to be completed. It worked like a charm.…
