Putting Down the Phone
One thing I hope to use this medium for is getting the phone out of my hand so much. Do. Do. Do. That's what I want. To do. But instead, I scroll. Incessantly. For some reason I feel like something miraculous is just around the next flip of the thumb. Sometimes, yes, something interesting does come up, but rarely is it miraculous. To find a miracle, I must bring it myself. The things, or thing, I do end up doing is not for good. I don't know what to do for good. There is so much out there to do. I should be side hustling or working on my golf game or my writing game. Such the under achiever am I. Never finishing, rarely starting, even. Perhaps here, perhaps now. Do I want to "do" something on the internet? Preferably not. Maybe something that eventually makes it onto the internet? Is there such a thing as "offline content" or is all content "online"? One thing that I do do is read, and I don't think I even do enough of that most of the time. I'll stop surfing the web in order to read, but the phone is situated between the laptop and the book and, bam, scroll. Next thing I know, its time to go to bed and I am left not having done anything at all. I want to do and then possibly, if it is worthy, put it on the internet via Instagram or whatever. There is so much I need to do that would never make it online, just household things and general upkeep. Truck and clothes washing etc. In fact, I am off to do just that. I need clean underpants!
