RPWF Week 6: How to survive an apocalypse (2/2)
- talk to the trees. their plant matter is tens of thousands of years old and harbors a wisdom that often goes unnoticed. seek out the hidden messages in the sound of their rustling leaves and the intricate patterns of their bark. hold hands with their branches and allow their roots to help ground you.
- in moments where the lights are too bright and the voices are too loud, go underwater. be consumed and held by its lapping current, forcing you to listen to nothing but your own heartbeat. “thump thump thump”
- “thump thump thump” follow the rhythms, they are all around you. if you cant find them, look within. the thumping in your chest, the rise and fall of your stomach, the chatter of your teeth when its cold, the shudder of your breath when you cry, the 3-count laugh of your friend when you remind them about that one time…1…2…3…feel the rhythm and let it stabilize you.
- write me a letter. what do you wish i knew? help me become you. tell me all the things i wanted to hear and all the things i needed to. tell me that i was doing all i could with what i had. tell me that everything will be ok
- write me a letter. who do you want me to be? what do you wish for our future. i see your pain, your trepidation, your dreams. i cant tell you want you need to hear just yet, but i’ll be here, in the future, waiting for you.
