RPWF Week 2: Faith in the Unknown / Radical Courage (pt 1)
last night i slept worse than i have in months. i mean i’ve been sleeping like shit since we landed on this rock but last night the pain just took over me. the night before, i snuck out on my own to see if I could figure out what the orb was composed of. i thought, if i could just get close enough to chip off a shard or something, maybe I could chuck it under a microscope a find something…anything resembling a clue as to where it was leading us.
since we arrived, we noticed that it wouldn’t let us get too close. it remained around 50 ft away, appearing to be patiently waiting for us to follow it. everytime we approached, it luminated with a pulsing orange hue and guided us further into the dense prickly foliage. we all have our own ideas. those of us with way too much faith for comfort think it might be guiding us to some kind of natural water or food source that might help sustain us. or that some benevolent alien civilization sent it to welcome us to our new home. others have speculated that its simply toying with us or luring us to some bone-chilling end.
