my favorite drugs part II
- writing -- i have so many things to say and no one to say them to, so i write. i say i have no one to talk to not because i literally have no friends or acquaintances but because when talking, one needs to consider the interests of one's conversation partner, and it is exhausting to limit oneself to topics which interest the particular conversation partner. part of the joy (or even PURPOSE) in talking is to let one's thoughts out into the open so as to see them better and rearrange them and play with them to see what happens (i guess i don't "think before i speak" but rather "speak in order to think") and i don't want to limit my thinking only to that which interests other people! so i write. and now i sound like some wannabe philosopher who writes for the sole purpose of the virtuous act of Thinking but...well, writing simply lets me say all the things i want to say, without having to first find an audience. do you suppose that all this "thinking by myself" has turned my thinking into a remote island of idiosyncratic flora and fauna?
