Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
This is obviously a very easy answer. I will be on my phone. If I happen to have my ear buds with me, I would use them to listen to an audiobook or a podcast. If I didn't have my earbuds or I needed to hear what is going on around me, I would prefer to read some book in my phone's kindle app. Else I would be scrolling…
Nowadays, I find myself overthinking what I write because so many eyes are observing. Judgment and fear arise, and I end up not posting at all. Writing for myself has become a liberating experience—I can pour all my thoughts into a post and then continue with my day, feeling relieved and lighter. This hesitation…
It occurred to me then that Kiwi is the Annabel to Kippy’s Lolita. And truly I don’t think I ever recovered from her death. This whole meme is getting out of hand, this cometragedy of beloved animal soulmates
“When the time comes for you to die, I will raise up your descendant, one of your own sons, to succeed you, and I will establish his kingdom. He will build a house for my name, and I will make his dynasty permanent.” 2Samuel 7.12-13. God blesses those who serve and reverence him, as he did David, but he thinks far…
Wife, after sharing second thoughts about starting a new job: "Do you think they're the kind of people who would hire a woman just because she's a woman?" Me: "Wondering whether you're the benefactor of affirmative action feels kind of gross, doesn't it?" Wife: "Ugh" I should note that the Hebrew term for that…
Last night, Erik, Seb and I went to Erik’s favorite restaurant. He’d been wanting to go because last time we went, he had some potato wedges off of Seb’s plate and declared them the best potato wedges in the universe. (He’s also the type to say “do you mind if I take a little bite of your sandwich?” I love his lack of…
Today I went to pick up my parents from the airport. First, the parking ticket didn’t go through, and the car behind me started honking. My dad went and shouted at them. Then, I took the wrong road, and we ended up in a bad area of the city. My dad was furious. Every word that came out of his mouth was loud,…
Are we here for power? Are we here for sex? OR Are we here for meaning? When you are born, the consciousness inside of you doesn't know any labels. When you try to look a newborn baby in the eyes you will notice that it's eyes can't focus. It has to learn to interpret certain frequencies into certain colors. I'd say…
we hung out with a new sailor today; well, new to us, not new to sailing. and we did NOT hit it off. at some point i could feel that he was trying to leave. it was like he was waiting for us to say something that we never ended up saying. what was it that he wanted us to say? i wonder what it is that made me hit it…
i feel energetically a little STUCK do i: - do more yoga - get the package - read - write - eat - watch youtube (this seems almost certainly like a bad idea bc i am so annoyed with booktube people but i am curious about just one little video...) ? i'm hungry. fuck. my body has decided. i guess i'll eat leftover…
Making a few bad decisions is preferable to remaining indecisive. As soon as I stop wavering and instead commit to a concrete plan, the clarity and direction it brings feel both right and rewarding. Decisiveness and concreteness not only accelerates progress but also builds confidence.
being the nice guy is not going to get you anything. you think you are doing people good but no you are just killing yourself bit by bit. people will go on doing what they want to do. hurt you. worse, not even care about you. people are just trauma. you got to be an asshole to get what you want. put your own needs…
I didn't sell enough in the last cycle. I made too many long-term bets on projects that have not (🤞🏻yet🤞🏻) captured attention this cycle. Cardano, Polkadot, Cosmos, Ripple & Polygon, primarily. My thesis was that these are long-term projects/investments, and while most of them are in profit from where I bought, I…
My antisocial personality would like to talk, but at same time don't have energy to be socialite!
Reading the news, one can easy to feel the world is falling apart. But is it? Or is it us, thinking things are worse than they are? When a major plane crash happens, the front pages worldwide scream, “Plane crashed in XYZ.” And if you have a flight coming up, seeing this can make you freeze. It’s well-documented that…
No matter how good their life becomes, some people will find things to complain about. It doesn't matter where you put them. What you change about their life. They will crib. They will find things going wrong in their lives and rant about it. The problem is not their situation. It is not the people around them. They…
A short one about an interesting sliding doors moment. Louis Menand’s 2021 review in the New Yorker of Glenn Frankel’s “Shooting Midnight Cowboy: Art, Sex, Loneliness, Liberation, and the Making of a Dark Classic” contained a brilliant tidbit. It's believed that a key element contributing to the mood of Midnight…
This is the partial title of a scientific paper that wanted to assert the main predictor of belief in astrology, the pseudoscience that saw the biggest boom (or revival) in the past decade - mainly due to social media. While for some it came as a surprise that narcissism is the biggest predictor of belief in…
i read a book about how there are people who defy all expectations. like they just HATE fulfilling expectations, doesn't matter if it's internal or external. i may be such a person. i told myself that i should go running at 5 and cook at 6 and have dinner ready by 7.30 but it is now 5.55 and i have been working on…
we have to realise that us staying with big tech social media is like a double-bind. We do it to stay connected to everyone - which is what most people do - or to reach many people - whilst our bubbles are negotiated by their owners, market logics and power games - power games that are entangled with the global arms…
All thanks to Winters: I'm basking in sun while writing this. Sun's warmth feels too heavenly these days. My society's ground is filled with people, majorly grannies with their grand kids. Every person present here has come down of their matchboxes to soak in some Vit-D. I can see so many teletubbies having fun,…
Today marks day 50 of my daily writing challenge on Nicheless. Writing daily is starting to become a habit and I find myself consciously reflecting on my experiences more often. I like it. I feel it really helps me to have more clarity in my mind. So I am definitely going to continue with this challenge. However, I…
Barrenness isn't supposed to be beautiful. But in Paracas, it somehow is. Windy, dusty salt flats, gently curved dunes, cloud capped mountains, jagged cliffs, dark sand, and a seaweed filled ocean. They combine to create a landscape that would look strange even on a postcard. There's no fresh water for miles, so most…
Ah! the speed of our world does not sync with our concept of time. most experience time at a different pace to others and is relative to their context. there is an exception though, find the person who shares your speed. because with them the context of time become irrelevant...
Elas adoram. É bom sentir…
16g of coffee ground at a setting of 1/30. 240g of water heated to 95 degrees. Bloom the coffee with 30g of water and leave it for 35 seconds. Then pour the remaining 210g of water in slow concentric circles. That's my daily routine to prepare my first cup of coffee upon waking. As long as I stick to light or medium…
I have decided to quit my job. WITHOUT another job offer in hand. This can be seen as risky, and is highly uncharacteristic for me. I'm known to be a super-careful person. In fact, 4-5 people have told me that not a lot of places are hiring because of the impending recession, startup funding winter and what not. "I've…
Two scenarios - a personal one and a professional one, to understand this superpower. Personal Life - think of your latest argument with anyone. Reflect on what led to this being so chaotic in the first place? A core reason might simply be the sheer aggression and need to get your point across. When both the actors in…
Micro habits are important for creators. They build muscle memory to ship things faster. In my opinion, two foundation habits are - writing and reading. Atomic writing is a forcing function to reduce fluff. A path to clear thinking. But more importantly, It's a small bet that reduces inhibition in sharing. It gets you…
I have decided that it's time to switch up morning routine. Thanks in no small part to binging Huberman Labs podcasts during the Jamaica trip. Currently, I am a night owl. In bed by 1am. I wake up at 8:30a on "mama-duty" days and 7:30a on "daddy-duty" days.Starting tomorrow, I will wake up at 7:00AM every morning.…
ChatGPT, was launched recently. I went through several different emotions as I saw screenshots of its capability posted all over twitter. First I was in awe, then I was in denial trying to find evidence of its failure. Subconsciously, I was trying to convince myself that a human was better and AI will not take over.…
To think of your own - having that critical thinking solving problems Everyone has their own agenda You have your own too How to get theirs to yours is what makes sense Have your own 城府 Don’t show your emotions You are targeting on the “missions” only - but getting trust from people using emotions is also part of the…
every time you watch a piece of media from the past (2013 was 12 years ago!) you get an awful nostalgia of the way things used to be. i am a sucker for the past, no matter how much it sucked at its own time. i've been watching Orange is the New Black (2013-) past few days, completely overhauling my schedule and…
There are myriad of ways in which one can claim that a person has lived a good life. After all, isn't what we are all aiming for ? To have a "good life". Obviously, the definitions of the same may differ. It maybe defined by certain achievements, familial bonds or a hundred other ways. But this writer just wants to…
For a long time now, I was eager to write content on a niche topic but was not able to do it due to lack of ideas. Now I have one idea on which I'm focused on, creating guides and publish them for public. The choices that I have to publish these guides on are: LinkedIn, Medium, Substack, Landing pages and website. I…
Urmi came to Vizag to meet Venky and I. We have talked so much that we have completely exhausted ourselves. It’s fun and nice though. I really like the conversations we can have. I know this may not be a group that meets often, but I hope we’ll meet at least some times. Few important takeaways: The 2 components of a…
Don’t aim to do the easy things. Don’t aim to think the fastest short cuts Think 3 more seconds - work towards the hardest and the best solution always. Remember to not stuck there In solutions Conversations Presenting yourself to others Body language Be fully aware and be putting 100% Say thank you Take initiative…
A few days into this exercise of writing daily, I've had a few learnings - I feel most of my decisions that switched things around have been spontaneous. It was the case with taking up this daily writing challenge too. I didn't have topics in mind. I refrain from writing about the things I come across online…
Do Not Hand Wave over Important Topics The gift of written communication outside of Twitter and Nicheless is that the word count is generally boundless. We can dive into any point and pull our selves back out to any level of abstraction that we want to. When and where to dive into writing is art, not science. But such…
I don't hate my job, but I don't love it. I've been running away all these years, jumping from one job to another and then hating myself. All because I don't have the courage nor the discipline to chase my dreams. Chasing your dreams isn't a luxury, it's hard work and requires a lot of determination. I am ready to…
"To escape fear, you have to go through it, not around." -- Richie Norton A few days ago, on my way to the gym, I saw a dog barking and provoking a bull, causing it to run amok. The dog didn't shy away from fear; instead, it charged straight at it, refusing to be intimidated by the bull's size. Surprisingly, the bull…
We love conclusions. Conclusions lend certainty to identity, relationships, and thought experiments. For instance, soon after a conversation, we are quick to think,"Oh this person is cool." Even with thought experiments we shade the experiment with what we know to be true from our experience. Let's say if someone asks…
The protests in India, which began mid June under the label of CJP or Cockroach Janta Party, took a life of its own when Gen Z made their aspirations known on social media using instagram in full force. This combination of youth, frustration, joblessness, directionless leadership and a bleak future was a recipe for…
Here’s the continuation of the previous post: === anon2080 Another sneak-peek of my conversation with Dr. Caleb Takagi Gutiérrez. - “I’m sure you’re aware of the local artists criticizing your initiatives as ‘appropriating their work’. Do you have any message for them?” CTG: “First of all, I take these criticisms very…
