Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
India is undoubtedly facing challenging times. This isn't solely due to a specific party, but rather the collective direction we are taking as a nation. Our control has slipped away, replaced by desperation and misguided efforts. The current government's lack of action or passive endorsement of lawbreakers exacerbates…
When I started writing on Nicheless, 300 words on a daily basis did not seem an insurmountable task. I was proven wrong. An overseas work trip, between airports, the aircraft, hotels, office buildings, malls, high speed trains and cars, I was struggling to keep up with my writing. Finally after two days, I settled…
An abundance of information is good but unnecessary. Learning, knowing, and consuming information under the garb of curiosity is a neatly packed product sold to all internet users. Most marketing courses prescribe creating informative, valuable content to subtly signal the need for a product. This method of selling…
Words for myself, words for others. The stream of words make sense in context (perhaps), but not necessarily relevant out of. Do hashtags provide that context or should words be used to create it? Semantic pinning is ambiguous without sharpened tokens.
Just learning the lay of the land for now. Gotta learn the rhetorical exigencies, ya know.
I have always wanted to build a writing habit for the longest time. However a combination of imposter syndrome, unavailability of time, not prioritising writing and fear of my bad content stopped me. A major factor was also the world around me which shared their writing on social media. I was even afraid to create a…
As the title suggests, I am not really addicted to things. I drink alcohol only once every few months, usually with just a few people. I smoke rarely throughout the year, and I only smoke up a few times in the entire year. And all this time, I was proud of being a moderate drinker, someone who didn't cause trouble or…
how did i get here - and where is everyone else?
I have a friend who always responds with "tired" or "stressed" whenever I ask how she is. It's been five years, and 90% of the time, those are her answers. Yesterday, at a party, she was tired, and after they sang happy birthday, she was in a rush to leave. I asked her to stay a bit longer so we could hang out, but…
Childhood is a magical time. As a parent, I feel pressure to preserve this sanctity for my own children. Of course I could be wrong but I’ve noticed a trend: if there are at least two children in a family, there are two archetypes: a favorite and a performer. The favorite in the family was the one that was, knowingly…
Remember V from furniture? He’s moving through life pretty quick Be like him Put your mind into it Never focus of the past The future abit Think of the present mostly Like he could’ve finished what I was studying within 3 hours Because he wouldnt have thought he had “enough” and rest of a bit; did a good job etc…
My initial reaction was to hammer out an email to put my new financial advisor in his place. I took a deep breath. I needed to get home to my journal to gain clarity. Before I began journaling daily other extreme emotions caused extreme reactions. I struggled to contain my immediate response, even those I might…
A quick thought; Interesting results for AI portraits come when a prompt is structured with two genders. An example prompt; a photograph of a woman by Man Ray. Thinking about how this sentence can be confused and how the AI could be interpreted. The woman is taken as priority, it guides the overall features, then Man…
When did holidays turn into parties? Or have they always been a time to party? Is there anything wrong with any of it? Have we lost anything culturally, spiritually? In the US Halloween is about dressing up and collecting candy. Is the true horror story diabetes then? And what part has the party played in this?
I was reading a post by one of the Nicheless users about how he became a Corporate Lawyer by fluke. This reminded me how life doesn't make sense if we look forward. But it makes sense when we look backward and connect all the dots. I started curating and writing a newsletter in October 2020. I didn't have any plans…
When I touch my thumb and my index finger together, if feel a sensation. I can try to convey my experience to you in words. Pressure, skin, temperature, bones, soft, hard. These are just words. We love words, that's why were are here on nicheless. But in no way, you can ever know what this sensation feels like for me.…
i have been yearning to see you. It's been a while, i search for you everywhere. airports, flights, streets, restaurants, monuments. i know tears will run down my cheeks when i see you. i want to give you a big hug. and that's the dream you took away from me you came to campus. you saw me. you didn't say hi. we spoke…
3. writing -- i have so many things to say and no one to say them to, so i write. i say i have no one to talk to not because i literally have no friends or acquaintances but because when talking, one needs to consider the interests of one's conversation partner, and it is exhausting to limit oneself to topics which…
You may think a journaling habit is not for you. Maybe you tried and quit. You’re not a writer. You’re not a creator. You’re not a deep thinker. You’re selling yourself short. You may be all of these and more. I considered myself all of these until I started a consistent journaling habit. A journal is a place you can…
Ahhh observe from behind. an alternate message is revealed. is this a message you want to share? if not iterate on the original until both messages are what you want to share because the alternate view from others is just as valid as your own...
Human thought is shaped not just by what we consciously know but by the invisible assumptions embedded in our culture, education, and social norms. These frameworks operate like mental software—unquestioned yet profoundly influential. Gregory Bateson, in That Every Schoolboy Knows, urges us to interrogate these…
A lot of people likes to use the above graph and article to show how hard drive continue to fall. If you Zoom out over long enough period of course if will look fine. But if we look from 2013, where HDD price was slightly bumped up due to Thailand flooding, we saw price /GB went from $0.04 to $0.015 in 10 years time.…
the writing (that i'm reading, that i wrote, that i'm editing) is getting better. it is less sour. oh thank god this is salvageable. also i seem to encounter norwegians who make me think "you are so cool bc we are so similar" but i am not even remotely scandinavian and i think it has a lot to do with how they like to…
Im normally used to have a routine that is very stable, not much going on, but this past 2 weeks have been very intense for me, from events, meeting people, moving and figuring out this this country I have been picking up very bad habits cause I have so many things I want and need to fit in my schedule. Now I realize…
....Haha got you! You're welcome to read this even if you're not a swimmer, with the disclaimer that the sentences will meander with almost no meaning and most certainly put you to sleep! However, if you've spent a better part of your childhood training in a 25 or 50 meter pool, some of this may be relatable, so read…
Hello World. There's a few areas in my life that I'd like to grow and evolve. Recently, I've been on a personal development journey on and off for the past two years. I happened to find this site on Twitter a few days ago and I was intrigued. In this chapter of my life, I would like to document my journey along the…
There were few mass shootings in the US over last couple of days and this got me thinking what could be the root causes of such a hideous act of crime. The incidents were given different names such as - gun violence, hate crime, domestic terrorism, white supremist attack etc. based on which media outlet you consume…
As is customary for me, I didn't contribute last night. I had a long day and barely even got my daily skateboarding in, which I am skipping tonight due to the weather. Today was crazy at work with so much going on and only so much time to do it in. We got it done though and everyone really busted ass. So part of my…
“We are splinters and mosaics; not, as they used to hold, immaculate, monolithic, consistent wholes.” schreef Virginia Woolf in een van haar dagboeken.
When there is pink and gray in a sunset, the pink stands out because of the contrast. On a cloudy day after a sunny one, we might not always appreciate the clouds, but after days of rain, a single cloudy day with no rain feels like a gift. Why can't we enjoy it as it is, feeling fortunate for a cloudy day, which has…
When I started weight training about 15 years ago, I was rather intrigued by some of the folks in the gym who wore all sorts of contraptions. From wrist and knee bands. Head bands, gloves and then a belt around the waist. It was quite fascinating that the exercise wearable market had evolved to a point where the body…
‘Indian Matchmaking’ and ‘A Suitable Girl’ have much in common: producer Smriti Mundhra, match-maker Sima Taparia, and an overwhelming display of complex but problematic routines and notions around arranged marriage. Yet, one is cringe (but binge-worthy), while the other is deeply unsettling. The difference in…
i'm trying to understand what it is that i so admire in a person i will name people i admire and see if i can spot a pattern: (1) M - truly conceited - has a dream, has a plan (and carries it out, somewhat) - content - telepathic understanding (2) H - truly conceited - has many dreams, many plans (AND CARRIES THEM…
My room is not so tidy. I don’t have a place for the shoes, there are some sheets of paper on the floor, but it’s okay. I look at it and I’m scared. It looks temporary. Now it’s tidy, tomorrow will be a mess. And the more I try to keep it tidy, the more my fear grows. Just like for my mind, I’m afraid of the following…
You need to keep a habit of doing everything small correct and nicely; Else you’ll just reward yourself for being as you should: like being on time, went to the gym, don’t keep yourself too harsh but don’t keep yourself too loose & without control and discipline. “The most free people are the ones who control…
1. my morning walk on the street curved along the beach 2. books. im currently reading "muhammad" (a historical biography; i'm trying to read a historical biography of the "founders" or figureheads of every major religion...so far i've read about jesus and there was not much information to satisfy but this specific…
It’s because everyone has their own set of mind And most times high level individual are usually very self aware - You gotta be stronger and more attractive The way you do things etc Don’t 后知后觉 when you think of something think it to the end. Whatever you do Of course it’s better to JUST DO Though you could’ve done…
Have you ever been pretty drunk but had these fleeting moments of clarity? Like you snap out of the buzz for a few seconds and your mind functions normally? Sometimes you have these moments even when you are not drunk. You could be going on with life as usual, going through the motions. Suddenly you snap out of it.…
After half a year obsessing over the university that I actually got into, I finally saw it in person. Its so weird, it's so different, felt so different. The campus matched the multiple videos that I saw, it felt a bit smaller, but its so much better than I ever imagine, cause I'm actually here, experiencing and being…
For five years, I had a hectic commute to and from college. I have used Mumbai locals for all of those five years because it was the fastest mode of transport. Conveniently, after I graduated, I did jobs that didn't require a commute that would tire me. However, I just started working at a new job and anticipate some…
A simple answer is - because I want to learn how to do things in and around a website. A no-code website of growcket will be a playground for me to experiment and practice a lot of things like: 1. SEO - How can I rank my website higher than existing ones. 2. Content - Practice of writing. 3. Insights - What type of…
i mean, why not just write it in a private journal? or go the other way and book-publish all your thoughts? just look at sheila heti, publishing a catalogue of thoughts from her diary alphabetized from a-z (she is so busy that she can't even organize them by theme NOT TO BORROW SCHOPENHAUER'S IDEAS LEST HE CALL ME A…
Comportado, bonito e brilhante. Estávamos todos…
It's used to justify atrocities, it's used to discriminate, it's used to oppress and most importantly it is used to squash debate on critical topics. The very opportunity to improve a good endeavour can be shut down by using the "making the world better" card. They key is not whether it is making the world better or…
The world is changing too fast. I'm not sure what the turning point was, but I went from thinking of people as old school, to realising that I'm finding it hard to keep up with the times. Social media is a constant reminder of this. A few years ago, I consoled myself that it was ok to stay off the gram as the negative…
