Life doesn't make sense looking forward.
I was reading a post by one of the Nicheless users about how he became a Corporate Lawyer by fluke.
This reminded me how life doesn't make sense if we look forward. But it makes sense when we look backward and connect all the dots.
I started curating and writing a newsletter in October 2020. I didn't have any plans when I started it. I was just looking for a place to share interesting links with curious people.
I made an amazing friend, Janel, through my newsletter. Her info-product, Newsletter OS, saved me tons of time!
Even today, I use it every single day. It's one of my best purchases as a newsletter writer.
Eventually I found out that we can monetize newsletters through sponsorships. I got my first sponsor through Swapstack.
I was in touch with their founders by giving feedback and requesting product features.
One day, Janel shared that Swapstack was open to accepting Growth Marketing interns. I immediately applied and I got selected for their second round of interview where it involves solving an assignment. It was one of the best assignments I've solved since I got out of college!
After 2 more rounds, I finally got selected as a Growth Marketing intern and now, after 6 months, I work as a full-time Growth Marketer at Swapstack. 🙌
If not for that tiny decision to start a curated newsletter, I wouldn't be where I am today. Working at a start-up, talking about newsletters, helping creators monetize their work. ❤️
Life doesn't make sense looking forward. But, all the dots make sense when you look backward.
Never regret the choices you make. It will make sense at the end of the day.
