Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
Went to watch the movie PS1 with mom, asish and venky. Had a lot of fun, and I’m glad I could take mom out that way. Had a nice time today. Asish and venky were so cute and were indulging mom and her stories She took us around some nice heritage places in Vizag
The gym is fun, its challenging, helps you have better mental resistance to pain, things you don't necessarily like to do, and the most obvious one its just good for your body. My thing is that I'm a indecisive person and with so many options I just don't enjoy it as much... BUT when going with other people it is way…
Ahhh the moment as a cup falls to spill out water lets us predict the near future. the same can be applied to any idea strong enough to take action. the puddle may result in something special...
I have ENOUGH money. What I don't have enough of is - happiness fun meaning
I'm talking about structures - more specifically incentive structures. Politics, economies, sports teams, companies are all driven by incentives Those that set up well calibrated incentive structures are the most successful That's why capitalism (with regulation to account for self-centeredness of humankind) works so…
I can be very restless and impatient; and sometimes surprise myself with my patience while watching birds. Watching birds going about their chores assiduously pleases me like nothing else. It's fascinating to watch a swallow build its nest drop by drop of mud, a lammergeier soar high with a bone and drop it on a rock…
Our outward appearance tells others a lot. Wear a suit and show your business personality Wear an orange robe and show your religious personality Wear harem pants and show your free-spirit personality This is all signaling. By signaling we let others know that our "culture" exists. Now here's the problem.. We, humans…
I used to be a born fan of top-down approach. I never could wrap my head around small things if I couldn't figure about the existence and why of things. And that's okay while you're learning but innovation can't be done this way you need to solve a lot of small puzzles to figure out how to solve the larger one or even…
"What do you think about the Rolex Daytona?", asked my friend. "It's great but I am an Omega person", I replied. "The model in the new 007 movie is truly a piece of art". "It sure is. What do you think about the grey Tom Ford suit Daniel Craig wore in the movie?", I asked. "I think the blue one was better. You should…
A gente…
I am trying so hard to let people continue to be who they are. But I'm not having any success. It makes so much more sense to smile politely and have a superficial R'ship instead of expecting reciprocal sincerity, integrity and loyalty. Enforcing your boundaries time and again is exhausting and I have always withdrawn…
A comfort zone is a beautiful place but nothing ever grows there.
Today was an intense day full of business strategy work - thinking big, maximizing impact, market analysis, etc. Networking, research, meetings, and repeat. However, my personal highlight of the day occurred in the night, on my way back from the gym. The streets were empty, the air was fresh and there was a slight fog…
MARLON FUENTES - https://web.archive.org/web/20240616171400/https://marlonfuentes.com/about/ --- Re. "Rules" A "frame" is an arbitrary boundary, created for a specific purpose. A "rule" is a specific instruction to implement this frame/framework. If you think the frame is useful, then apply the operational rules to…
one of my goals in life used to be to feel stoned without smoking weed and i realized that you can do that it's called art. consume it, make it. listen to music go on a run (yes specifically go on a run) it's very simple and this is why proust thinks that art is the purpose of life
Do music help us to form narratives in our head? Do some music make us think about conflicts while others about compassion? Do our brains have the ability to translate the signals from music into more structured words, sentences and stories? Recently I have been inspired to think and write about topics that I feel are…
Giving a hand to those who need it without expecting anything creates a domino effect of people that want to help you. A week ago I thought I was gonna be left alone is this country with no one to go to when Im struggling, I was anxious about it, specially because I had to move my bed up 4 floors. During this week, 3…
Disclaimer : this might feel like a let down if you were expecting profound insights. Assumption : increased screen time reduces the evolutionary fitness of a person (yes yes that is debatable) Children who have had seizures are advised to restrict their screen time, because flickering lights can induce a seizure…
i have heard a lot of conversations attempt to define an NFT era in art as it occurs. the thing is, art eras are rarely defined at their current time. but for the sake of conversation an NFT could be seen as post-post-modern art where a standard is starting to emerge in the format is it created and the exploration of…
Okay, some more thinking. Maybe I can relate now with what Nelson went through when I started dating Musti. He said he found it mean that I was being so lovey dovey in front of him. That I was doing things and showing affection for musti that I never showed Nelson and that he always craved. Perhaps I’m going to feel…
Lots of ideas are running around my head - I've always wanted to write more. Writer's block? Self-doubt? Over-editing? Perfection being the enemy of the good? I don't really have a good excuse why I haven't. I love everything that Louis builds and when I saw his latest project, I thought this would be a good way to…
Moods, nausea and fear washes over me in tides and recedes just like that. Like my therapist said, fear needs to be embraced. It's an emotion that serves one quite well if embraced properly. I try to slowly build a friendship with fear because something tells me she will be a companion for life. Fear is a sneaky…
“we have survived so many fires, i can no longer tell if we are alive or simply burning.” — Pavana Reddy Letting go is difficult. Of people, dreams or your old self. People who need help often look a lot like people who don’t need help. They seem in control, always with a positive word. Everyone we come across has…
Problem: One of the biggest issues for the new internet of Web3 and the Metaverse is how we 'own' virtual assets. We've seen it already with NFTs: "So what if you own it? I can right click to own it too" Copying the image gives you exactly the same object the owner has, with exactly the same utility. Now imagine…
Came across a captivating question recently by Nicheless founder Louis on his post "12 questions that captivate me". Can a society with diverse, conflicting values survive? I believe only a society with diverse and conflicting values can survive. Humans follow their desires to pretty much any extreme. If a particular…
To my 3 year old ex to those memories to those happy moments tears shed for me i apologize - forgive me. to those dear good mornings that cheery routine a part of me those GNs, stickers and little jokes cutting you off i apologize - forgive me. to cope, to move - not necessarily forward. Id bounce from hinge to bumble…
I saw Homebound today. It was heartfelt. It showed me a side of India that I know nothing about. How their lives go. What their routines are. What they aspire to be. What problems they deal with. Part caste and religion plays in small ways in their daily experience. I hold Varun Grover in a very high regard. I'd see…
I am starting a new writing journey of writing everyday for the next 30 days. I will write on musings of my mind, which I think will broadly involve topics on parenting, recent books I read, design flow, on tax and work. The idea is to write what ever I can think of; letting my mind playout and think clearly on the…
In what world are we living, where instead of being present in our environment, we are looking at ourselves through our phone screens? Yesterday, I saw an amazing sunset in its different stages: peaking through the clouds, reflecting in the water and creating a golden path, and then fading into a soft afterglow. I…
This morning while meditating, one of the many thoughts that popped up was a simple analogy. The appropriate thing to do was to the let the thought pass, but because this was an analogy for the meditation itself, I indulged. If mind is like the ocean, then meditation is like diving The ocean's surface is rough on some…
"Figuring it out". This has been my go-to mindset for the last 3years. I am someone who thought going to college was useless, to now regretting not experiencing the college life. Now I feel I could have explored a lot. I am someone who started my Chartered Accountacy Course, because my parents told me to, even though…
Excuse the generic title, I am programmed to type those words first on all social media- Orkut, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google plus, etc. For me, internet in the late 2000's was about discovering humour blogs. We used to have those neighbourhood newspapers complete with satirical takes on our everyday lives. A…
Now in the early years of my fourth decade as an adult, am trying to determine what will end up being my go to cocktail in this decade. Wine has and will always remain my trusted and loyal companion at home. Beer will be that calm, peaceful and silent friend walking by my side. But a cocktail will take on a…
The founder of this blog wrote a couple of days ago that Nicheless had found a couple of niches of its own as follows: "(1) Content creators who use it to publish content outside their niche. (2) Other creative people who use it as a low pressure environment to publish their thoughts." There's perhaps a third niche -…
i have been thinking of my design ethos. i find the best way to develop is by listening to mentors. they way the speak. the way the create. the language they present. all have underlying fundamentals which can be adapted to my own thinking. i believe this is how to truly think outside-of-the-box...
I'm no more on a streak. Couldn't write yesterday. Nevertheless, the 30-essay series still continues. Today I am writing about productivity - a topic that is beaten to death a million times, every day, day after day. Well, this one is a different. I'm not selling a "I-know-it-all-shoving-it-down-your-throat"…
I ain’t good writing stuff tbh. Hell, can’t even write anything good like shakespear but its the thought that counts :p Music has always been apart of me. From when i was in the womb until now, and maybe in the future. It was my only way of escaping from reality, extinguishing the fiery feeling in my chest after an…
For a long time now I have had an idea in my mind that seemed almost impossible. Poetic in execution and artistic value, one where an echo may only speak the last thing it hears. It's a satisfying feeling to find the right person, now making the idea more possible. The future looks bright for this idea to flourish...
you keep shouting my name on the sidelines so much so, that - unconsciously, of course, and probably without intent - you became my biggest cheerleader, even when i don’t do things exactly right i’ve never had that. then, i noticed that you apply the same softness in other aspects of our… acquaintance the first to ask…
I expect that someone in my family will be on Mars in the next 10 generations. After all, I'm part of a tribe that travels. My ancestors were constantly on the road, exploring opportunities for their next generation and the ones that come after. It's baked into my genes. But it presents a conundrum. What mindset,…
One thing I hope to use this medium for is getting the phone out of my hand so much. Do. Do. Do. That's what I want. To do. But instead, I scroll. Incessantly. For some reason I feel like something miraculous is just around the next flip of the thumb. Sometimes, yes, something interesting does come up, but rarely is…
Questioning the notion of free will seems to be in fashion nowadays. So what is this idea of "free will?" I think a lot of us have an intuitive sense of what it is. It's the idea that our personal sense of agency or identity is what originates our actions. Who does what we do? Well, we do. If you're out for a walk…
There are almost no obese people in Copenhagen. Most people are obese in Lexington, Kentucky. It is not that people in Lexington are lazier or dumber or more morally flawed than people in Copenhagen. In Lexington, you can't walk anywhere and it's really hard to buy decent food. In Copenhagen, it's hard to buy shitty…
Last year, I worked on a little project to figure out what we needed to do as a society to prevent us from making our planet unliveable. I took an inevitable deep dive into the climate crisis only to realise that fossil fuel consumption and the resulting runaway warming of our planet is a mere symptom. That trying to…
i had to name you. one year later, i finally call you what you were: an abuser. does it ever hurt, knowing that you drove a knife through me without ever stabbing me? does it ever haunt you, how i kept begging for you to stop but you were drunk on ego? do you ever get scared of the way it will all come back to you? it…
It's counterintuitive but I think it's true. We struggle to find time to stretch our creative muscles. But modern creativity doesn't come with more freedom. It comes with more restriction. Think of Morning Pages. It became wildly successful among creative professionals because it forces you to write 3 pages. No more,…
