Hypothetical questions on seizures
Disclaimer : this might feel like a let down if you were expecting profound insights.
Assumption : increased screen time reduces the evolutionary fitness of a person (yes yes that is debatable)
Children who have had seizures are advised to restrict their screen time, because flickering lights can induce a seizure sometimes.
Assuming that this advice does lead to relatively lesser screen times, do you think we as a species will evolve to have at least one seizure in a lifetime? So that we are medically unfit to use screens for too long? And hence we would have to interact with the non-virtual world instead of being lost on in a virtual world the whole time?
As in after a few hundred generations maybe having a seizure will be a rite of passage as a baby?
Maybe we will evolve to have seizures that are less harmful to the neurons.
Which makes me wonder, when the electrical activity in the heart is wonky, we generally give it an electrical shock to set it back to normal activity, like pacemakers do. How come we don’t do that for seizures? Pacemakers for the brain for kids with intractable seizures…
