Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
I have rejoined the Linking Your Thinking (LYT) cohort. Currently in Workshop 9, I am serving as a mentor, as well as enjoying updates the founder and host, Nick Milo, has created. An exercise from yesterday's first live super session (via Zoom, of course) included "STIRring knowledge" - Space, Time, Importance,…
i woke up this morning not knowing where i was but my eyes were heavy so i played a game of "where am i"? before revealing the answer i had some guesses a sailboat in sicily was not one of them (my soul plays this game with me regularly to see if i like where i am. this morning i was rather pleased. it's a splendid…
(The following is a RP entry from the perspective of my Project Zomboid character, again) I'm a bit scared right now to be honest. Today I was doing the usual looting and found a police station; Jackpot! I thought... and indeed I won the lottery of guns, after clearing 2 floors of zombies I got to the lockers and…
Skyggene gjør seg alltid større enn de er. Mørket tåler nesten ingenting. Det går i stykker av litt lys.
One of the best parts about my time in university was the people I met. Even though we were all very different people and quite literally, came from different places, I feel we were on a similar wavelength. We cared about similar things and as we discussed our varying points of view, we moved forward and deeper…
Being a second-year law student, it is my personal goal that I need to develop my legal writing. This exercise will not only help me perform better in law school (I hope), but also give me an idea of what my strengths and interests are, thus giving me an insight into which path to choose after completing law school. I…
I'm not saying I've discovered the secret to happiness, but daily fiber supplements and a bidet is working out great for me.
A rule I like to use when deciding how to behave is to imagine myself from another person’s point of view. Would I engage with myself if I saw myself doing that, or being that way? It’s a way to get feedback without needing anybody else, and although not ideal, it’s a good place to start. Recently, I’ve been wanting…
It's a toxic question. We like to press ourselves with it all the time. We use it to police each other. Diagnose the problem. Administer medication. It's how we like to handle problems. The question points our attention inwards and focuses on the mess we're swirling in. A better question is: What matters to you? This…
I usually listen to music on YouTube (and think YouTube premium is rather underrated). I particularly like to watch musicians in their natural state and not 'performing'. Radio station interviews/ broadcasts are a standard fixture. A couple of days ago, I stumbled upon a Tiny Desk Concert by Alicia Keys on NPR. She…
i not-so-proudly announce that i am not okay. it is also not okay. but okay.
It finally happened. I dipped my pen nib into my morning coffee. Should have put a lid on the cup. Can't dip in the wrong container if there's a lid over one of the liquids. Another drawback to drinking coffee black; out of the corner of your eye, it looks like your ink. One of those moments you figured would…
Ahhhhhh shifting to a new visual language for daily creation. i was once anchored to a choice that limited my creativity. now released into the sky like a balloon. excited for where the wind takes me...
the most sexy people is people who knows what they’re doing Doing what’s important to them and achieving them Not by watching others living their lives, that’s very unsexy Doing what you loved to do And doing it is kinda sexy and it happens by doing And by doing you need discipline That’s why you gotta protect your…
This is what I'd like to say: "Hey, how are things going with Project X? Do you require more time?" What I have to say is this: "Hey, how are you doing? I just wanted to check in on Project X and make sure everything is running smoothly. The deadline is approaching, so please let me know if you require extra time. :D"…
The slow start, quiet open windows and fresh morning air. Delight.
The Indian internet is abuzz with the news of India overtaking UK in GDP terms. Without a doubt, becoming the 5th largest economy in the world is no mean feat and we must be proud. Given where we started and what we've been able to achieve in last 30 odd years, we deserve a pat on the back. A large section of the…
Curiosity Motivates. And when it’s satiated, the motivation dissipates. Motivation is a minor fuel injection — it simply helps course correct. It’s what the coach uses in the locker room to bolster the team for the second half. It's the climax for the movies. It's cinematic. But it doesn’t sustain. Follow through is…
A spiritual guide once to told me that "God is everything or God is nothing. What was my choice to be?" Once, when leaving a spa, the massage therapist told me "Walk on mother earth as you would want your children to walk on you." My entire life, like so many others, has been a life of spiritual seeking. Even when I…
Reflecting on the experiment of writing every day for more than a month, I can say that, at first, like any other challenge in life, it seemed daunting. You doubt yourself and are scared of all the "what ifs" that could happen. The first days are probably the hardest; there is a change in your life, and you're not…
It is important to intervene when you get into a negative self-talk rabbit hole. It happened to me today: "It's 5 pm! No haven't been 'productive'" "What are you doing? The client is billing you!" In these times, you need to ask the sergeant to relax. I call this alter-ego, the Sergeant. Intervene in the following…
I felt energetic today. I went to office and distracted myself with work. Felt like I can be doing more work and that I am not doing my role justice. FOMO max. I had a bit of spotting. Spent a few hours feeling nervous because doctor suggested I do a scan tomorrow. I spent some time doing a puzzle which always relaxes…
There is something so fulfilling about hiking and something attractive to it that makes you come back to it, after all the pain and tiredness that it caused. Hiking gives me time to breathe, think and look around, it's an activity that has grown into me. For some people getting to the top gives them the achievement…
Yesterday, while at the grocery, a teenage stocker complimented my glasses. It tickled me. She looked at me with her bright young face and told me my glasses were cute. of course, they sit on a 65-year-old face. Then we talked about choosing new frames. The exchange was gratitude worthy, but it isn't in my journal. I…
Giving me those 2008-2009 vibes. All these new places on the internet to say stuff and see said stuff. Who owns this? And when will they start selling ads? The Deck was peak ads. I miss 43things.
Today was a great day. Spend more money than I’d want to since yesterday but it’s okay but it wasn’t on drugs or booze.. tonight I made chicken Alfredo pasta w mushrooms to finish a great day
this is the thing i wanted to talk about: i used to feel deprived in social interactions because i wanted something that i could not get. i didn't really know what it was exactly but i think it is: uninhibited intellectual-artistic playfulness and uninhibited intellectual-artistic curiosity i wanted someone to play…
I just read "Selbstdenken" and I've been reading Byung Chul Han's "Agonie des Eros" and... Schopenhauer's language is even clearer and simpler than Han's... And Han is already rather acknowledged for his easy style. I think to be popular it's better to be easy-to-understand. That's why Harry Potter was such a hit. And…
During my meditation practice today, I had a realization that has left me feeling both elated and bewildered. For the first time, I understood that the boundary between myself and the external world may not actually exist. In our everyday lives, we tend to view the world as something separate from ourselves. We see…
You've read or heard the quote before. Doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result is the definition of insanity. - Albert Einstein It's a very famous one thrown around online to the point that's almost becoming a cliché. And yet... That's what many people do daily, myself included some times...…
i think nicheless is the place where i slowly give shape to my becoming of a writer. see, all these years i have struggled to find my authentic voice. i have always found myself impersonating the style of the grandiose writers, philosophers or poets - depending upon whom i read last. there may have been elements of my…
The difference you can obviously think is conservative. But what does conservative means? It also means that they are more opened to new ideas and the problem with Asian thinking is it’s way too conservative. That there’s a certain system or rule to follow; which might not be real That you can date as many as you like…
My PKM includes not only fingertips to keyboard and screen to type but also fingers around a pen or pencil to write on paper. (Yes, I use Rocketbook. No, I don't have a tablet - yet.) Listening. When a prompt in LYT Workshop 9 was posted to share memorable podcasts, I immediately thought of and shared - this podcast…
From a spiritual advisor: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=92i5m3tV5XY For the past ten years or so, every morning, the routine is to make my bed, read some spiritual literature, meditate, and pray. Lately, I have gone back to the ole Headspace well for meditation. But sometimes, like today, I sit still for a few…
I recently came across Anna Lembke's content on YouTube & tapped into my hitherto latent interest in the neurochemistry of pain and pleasure. Fun fact: pleasure & pain circuits in the brain are co-located, i.e., the same part of the brain processes both pain and pleasure. Anyway... I had often caught myself…
Two young fish are swimming along, when they come across an older fish swimming the other way. He nods at them, saying, “Morning, boys. How’s the water?” The two young fish swim on; eventually one of them looks over at the other and goes, “What the hell is water?” David Foster Wallace narrated this parable to…
- read about mosquito facts along the lines of https://mosquitonix.com/blogs/news/where-do-mosquitoes-go-in-the-winter & https://www.barefootmosquito.com/kill-every-mosquito-earth/::text=Without%20mosquitoes%2C%20plant%20growth%20could,the%20only%20ones%20sucking%20blood - watch movies i've been recommended and others…
(original: 12 February 2006) and back east? ... there's a nor'easter & it's nutty. why people love SD's weather! ... it's the middle of february, FCOL! this is what the SD bay looked like across the street from solar turbines. my worries for today? sunscreen, hydration, air conditioning, and focus. yup! focus is hard…
Made me realised on how much growth I can do & still need to do Be interesting & don’t think so many - just do & live Too many thoughts inside your brain - you gotta divert the energy to around your world eyesight Take what’s most interesting and take it in. Ask interesting questions The energy and emotional…
I am the type who like analogies. I understand things better with analogies. I am aware that this type of thinking is not dynamic, and perhaps out of touch with reality. But as a thought exercise i enjoy doing this in my head. sometimes it helps me avoid bad startup ideas outright. And many times it makes me believe a…
The first question, without fail, in our capitalist society: what do you do? I meet you for the first time. You always lead with ‘what do you do’? Went to a blogging meetup full of strangers recently. I could tell immediately from the energy and the question re: my work that several people were not from the Pacific…
Moms article came in the paper today. We had such a nice and sweet time with all of us in Ammamma’s room as atta read out the article to us. The dogs were there, everyone was so happy, it was just really sweet. We were actually woken up by a phone call from moms friend congratulating her. I realised it’s a big deal…
1. What's the biggest business a single person can build without any employees? 2. Can a society with diverse, conflicting values survive? 3. Is it better to embrace human nature and play status games or fight it and attempt to avoid them? 4. What factors make a place worth living in? 5. How can I help my hometown…
On the whole, I'm pretty big on Science. But it's important to distinguish between the cult of science and the core scientific method. Whenever someone says "scientifically proven" I wince. It demonstrates a fundamental misunderstanding of what science is. Science can only disprove stuff. It's just a method of…
Don't know if one more writing and social media platform, which says it is not a social media platform, is worth the effort of writing. It is like having several notebooks in blank, or many books on the shelves that were never read. The objects are there, but their functions are ignored. Maybe because our brains,…
