Systems Don’t Motivate. They Facilitate.
Curiosity Motivates. And when it’s satiated, the motivation dissipates.
Motivation is a minor fuel injection — it simply helps course correct. It’s what the coach uses in the locker room to bolster the team for the second half. It's the climax for the movies. It's cinematic. But it doesn’t sustain.
Follow through is the result of commitment. Commitment is the acknowledgement result of Identity -- The doing follows the being. Identity is forged through consistency in action. This is why some actions feel intrinsic and others are sheer drudgery.
I can build my systems, but they won’t get me any further than curiosity to see if what I’ve built works. Once it proves what it does, I'm still left asking myself “But, Who am I?”
So, lean into that -- build systems that serve the questions of “who am I?” by facilitating the transition from who am I now, and who I am I striving to be. Is my system a bridge between my identities?
Without an intrinsic will to follow through, there's no guarantee I’ll use that bridge, but it does make it so that if this the person I am ready to be, the path forward is there.
