Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
For the last month or so, I have been sitting on coding up a weekend project to launch for my next "startup" or web app. Whatever it is. I have been procrastinating, again. The idea is simple. It's a read-only portal for all of my wallets. Google Pay, Venmo, Paypal, Cash App, Strike, and many more. I took my kids to…
For two hours, I have been sitting on the second landing of the staircase in my home, staring at a space between two steps that lead upstairs. Everything is in its right place. I feel sad. But my mind feels warm, supported, and unburdened. I am safe. This place is as true as any other. Everything is here. Everyone is…
i have never recovered from the love i felt for you it doesn't matter if someone is bf material or not--you can fall in love with them--because it's not for the sake of making them your bf that you fell in love with them
Coming from a small village, it was pretty uncommon to hear people discuss things like wealth, assets, capital etc growing up. It was very strange and unsettling when I met teens from Mumbai. Many of them seemed miles ahead in their business vocabulary and had a strong sense of business more than most of the "biz men"…
I passed through some fairly rigorous academic testing in my days as a graduate and postgraduate student in professional STEM studies. I've now grown into a role which requires that I periodically test the proficiency of youngsters in my profession. I'm just back from conducting such a proficiency test earlier today.…
Ahhh 🔁 iteration; continuous testing of an idea until one finds perfection in design. ironically perfection does not truly exists, but iterating on an idea can get design to a point that is almost perfect. i find the most relatable design does not strive to be perfect, yet it it gets so close that allows others to…
It is a fact of civilized life that there exist rules which govern and constrain individual behavior. You can't steal your neighbor's car because you don't have one, or because his is faster. Regardless of one's moral philosophical framework, just about everyone agrees on that. We tend to put the people who don't in…
In LYT, a question posed was exploring whether folks lack interest in publishing. Part of the context was one's possible tendency to focus too much on expressing one's self to one's self. Here's my abridged/edited response. --- I don't know if there is a right or wrong approach about one's publishing process. I face a…
When I started weight training about 15 years ago, I was rather intrigued by some of the folks in the gym who wore all sorts of contraptions. From wrist and knee bands. Head bands, gloves and then a belt around the waist. It was quite fascinating that the exercise wearable market had evolved to a point where the body…
When a technologist designs a solution for a specific community, particularly one they live in, unintended consequences are more manageable. But when that same solution is massively scaled, we have to carefully consider three concepts: 1. The technologies we create reflect what we value, but they don’t necessarily…
If our mind were a sail, then thoughts are the wind, Wandering aimlessly thoughts begin Winds go astray with no rudder to guide Lost and alone in a sea of pride Crowded thoughts but a lonely mind In a stormy sea there's little to find Reach out to where there is no need to hide In the midst of a loved one by your side…
(The following is a role playing diary written from the perspective of my Project Zomboid character) Days became easier once I got a working car, tools, weapons and a nice place far in the woods. I'm busy every day, yet sometimes I enjoy little moments like this more than before the outbreak. I was drowning in a badly…
It all depends on you Never have the slavery mindset You might be smart and be good at your job But what you believed in And your guts to stay true Stay logical and see things through Do not use emotional Don’t count on motivation Use logical Count on discipline As long as you put your effort into ANYTHING Including…
Sometimes you come across a pair that is clearly very close to each other. Observing them interact, it's unclear who is taking care of whom. The daughter still seeks to impress and seek validation, while showing her mother how things are done. The mother still instructs, but also follows instructions, probably…
one day we will no longer understand proust, just as we don't understand beowulf but we will always understand liszt and his liebestraum.
there was a study with mice where "the mice have a lever that they can press any time they want. When they press the button, a special optical sensor, which controls specific neurons in their brain, activates their dopamine neurons" anyway they pressed the button until they died with no desire of food or drink if…
Shephards pie with chicken mince, mini pomfrets on a bed of buttered spinach, pasta with a medley of ''english'' vegetables in a tomato sauce. Green salad with a generous topping of feta. Of course, some very garlicky bread. For dessert a christmas plum cake with fresh cherries in a custard. Topped off with a bottle…
you had a lot of big adventures new sights and people. i had little of that. i don't mind that it's not the same for you for me, your friendship is the best thing to have happened to my year. i bask in the glow that you you're still here of course i'm still here sometimes i find myself waiting but i don't mind that…
The only constant I have observed in my 21 years of existence is this — no matter how well I sleep at night, it just won't be as good as that nap in the afternoon. I'm a Bengali. And what science suggests is that since Bengalis have a carbohydrate-heavy diet, food that takes long to digest, they're naturally more…
India or Netherlands? Business or job? Self-made or ovarian lottery? There is no right or wrong. There are nuances to this question. M tells me to have an honest chat with my parents. She may be right. Sometimes, we make things up in our minds. Those thoughts reflect in our behaviour. That behaviour then attracts…
i'm reading the kāma sūtra and it is not a great book in the sense that if you were to do what it says to do, you will be further from the goals it promises you'd achieve. (namely, that of taking general pleasure in life) but the kāma sūtra is great as a glimpse into the lives of wealthy indians of an ancient past if…
A friend and I regularly check-in across the ocean - California, US and Vietnam - regarding activities around PKM, GTD, and solopreneurship. Two days ago, I recently shared about my on-goings - "... and lots of self-reflection - or shall I say "Self-Inflection" - I feel like I am at a transition point" Self-inflection…
First time time posting anything anywhere in years. I guess you have to learn to post rambling nothingness before you can post actual cognizant thoughts.
I seem to be needing emotional punching bags to deal with my emotions. What happens if the punching bag is alive and feels you punching it? Anyway, just commemorating the first time I’ve cried on call with SM because of an argument we’ve been having.
In March 2021, I posed two questions during Energy Central's hosted event, PowerSession: Utilities' Role Delivering Biden's Build Back Better Plan - How can community or consumer choice programs better understand and align with the priorities in social/environmental justice communities, where the programs are…
as current AI tools develop and more people use them. i have noticed subtle consistencies that pop up in stable diffusion. finding the consistencies and adapting them will be the difference from the average user to a unique user. one of the more obvious consistency are poses for portrait images. there are only a few…
The first question, without fail, in our capitalist society: what do you do? I meet you for the first time. You always lead with ‘what do you do’? Went to a blogging meetup full of strangers recently. I could tell immediately from the energy and the question re: my work that several people were not from the Pacific…
do you ever feel that scientists are paid to investigate some pretty obvious things and that society as a whole is interested in very uninteresting things? i want to know about how human language got invented. not any specific language, but the concept of language itself. and how, if the language families don't have a…
I'm probably going to end up sleeping a little later than usual tonight, because I really need to get this out. Been feeling a little excited about life lately. Happier even, you could say. There's a certain level of enthusiasm I feel when I think about the future. There's still a lot to overcome in terms of a lot of…
Instead of a small cramped cage, Bruce Alexander constructed a 200-square-foot housing colony for his rats. Into this space, which was heated just right, were placed delicious cedar shavings and all manner of bright balls and wheels. There was ample space for mating, space for birthing, room to roam, and warm nests…
16g of coffee ground at a setting of 1/30. 240g of water heated to 95 degrees. Bloom the coffee with 30g of water and leave it for 35 seconds. Then pour the remaining 210g of water in slow concentric circles. That's my daily routine to prepare my first cup of coffee upon waking. As long as I stick to light or medium…
Sometimes you are just doing the daily job and then thinking what am I doing and what I really want to do?? You are at cross roads just trying to push yourself through and at some point you loose all of it and start to questioning all the things in your life. Then suddenly you look at people who have become great by…
I'm trying to write publicly at the same time authentically At the same time, without the performance pressure of likes, comments, RTs. Seems cool. Seems entertaining. Seems a good cathartic experience. I'm always in search of niching down. Hopefully this one would prove otherwise. I don't have to niche down. I can…
Being good at small talk is to be present at the moment. Being good at job or work is to move fast or reply instantly and tackle the problem without any wait. You can see based on people’s reply speed… those who reply slow are tend to have lower work capabilities (because they think replying is hard, they choose to…
I think it will be weird and will take some time to get used to the two of them dating. I’ll need some time to recalibrate This will be such different roles from what I’m used to seeing. And maybe I’ll just have a lot of difficulty getting used to seeing Nelson being treated with respect and love. Seeing Shivani being…
You want to start a journaling habit, but you haven’t. Let me walk you through the process. I’ll do this with you in italics. Have your tools handy. I leave my journal and pen on the kitchen table, where I write each morning. Let’s start there for now. Put the coffee on to brew. Sit in front of your journal. You’ll be…
Well, not literally. What I mean is, the obsession brands had with a 'logo that pops', has now shifted to 'having a community'. With a logo, at least we were all on the same page about what it meant. With a brand community, it's essential to understand what it means and what you need in your brand before you can start…
I've been trying to decide whether humans are inherently selfish or if that's learned behavior. I haven't found an answer. what I think I can say is that time and age changes everything for each individual, and that there is no perfect point along life's arc that one can point to)without a heavy bespectacled tint(and…
You know you used to think Too much motivational speeches and my adrenaline got pumped up But there would be negative awareness or stimulation from my body to balance it out (biological facts) And I’ll feel demotivated. Because I feel others has already been achieving great things in life. And why should I? But now my…
This was a crazy week for Azuki holders. On March 30th, the Azuki team airdropped not just 1, but 2 "Somethings" to each wallet for every Azuki in that wallet. Meaning holding 1 azuki = 2 somethings, and 20 = 40 somethings. A lot of speculation has started on what exactly is in this box that we were airdropped, but…
I tell myself as I count down the minutes to 10:49am. In the middle of work, in the middle of a life I should be focusing on. "15 minutes of thought," I say - and I attempt to figure them out right here. I'm overwhelmed by own lies (of secretly working on a task I don't like doing, of pretending to work on things I…
Most of us have hobbies or interests that are a part of, or define who we are. Some make a career out of it, going in deep and letting their curiosity lead them wherever it goes. Others just like being able to relax, doing what they enjoy. But there are some who are interested in a multitude of things, so many objects…
Rambling is what I do more than talking only to realise that talking is no more than censoring your rambling and picking out the best variation of a collection of words. The more you talk the better you get at picking out the best words and that is considered normal. The art of filtering your ramble is talking. All of…
My parents video call me everyday. It could sound like I am complaining but that's not it. I like that they do. Most days I do pick up the call regardless of if I am out, at a party or at a friend's place. Usually, the conversation goes as follows- where are you (when I'm out) did you eat? what's happening? what else…
Why stressing into the things when it’s too late to control The first mistake that people make is they try to avoid mistake It’s okay to be making mistake About systematic You remember the times you woke up for school, do the homeworks and be a goodboy That’s training yourself to be adulting It’s nothing “nerd” about…
I love the phrase "I'm so lucky." No matter the circumstances, every time I say, "I'm so lucky," I find countless positive things in a day, no matter what happens. Our van door fell off, we had the worst food ever, or I had a headache. But on those same days, we drove through Scotland, stayed in front of beautiful…
